The Future Is Here
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size

This jacket is amazing.. first off the shakedry material is phenomenal, its exactly what it sounds like and if you have never experienced it you need to. This material is created to repel water, not coated or covered with some water repelling substance so unlike many DWR coatings this will never ever wear off or lose its ability to be waterproof. Secondly the stretch parts are also 100% waterproof (the army/military had gore-tex develop the stretch parts for wearing under bulletproof vests so you know it must be durable), and after learning about how many models were created to make sure the stretch areas were placed in the right areas (somewhere like 15 jackets with different variations of stretch in different places) this final result is AMAZING. I have long arms and have to deal with almost every jacket exposing my wrists as I reach for the bars. With this it stays put. Lastly this thing is ULTRA LIGHT and stuffs into its own pocket quite easily. I get its pricey, but when you add together a 100% waterproof jacket with superb breathability, gore windstopper, ultra lightweigh/packability features and a flawless fit? Well im in. Get ready to pack the features of 3-4 jackets into one. Like I said, this is the future of jacket technology.

I am 6'1'' and 170 ish and needed a large. In this same build with a smaller chest/torso I could fit a medium but I found it too snug in the armpits.. So if you are a more slender build shoot for a M. A bit larger build in the chest/arms go L. (This is not me in the photo)

Likes,
The look is awesome, the fit overall is clean and the two lenses cover 95% of all the riding I do. Overall the quality is there and is to be expected with smith.

The negativo....

The twist lock at the top of the goggle flops around (its very light and doesnt have anything to lock it down), and while adjusting my helmet/goggles the upper part of the lens has popped out. Never while riding, but on the lift. The other bad thing is I received mine with a few specs of dust in between the black lens. Not visible while riding but just something to bug me.. ha. Other than that they are fantastic.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I wear goggles and a thin beanie under my helmet and with all the padding and liner material that just was not possible. Rather than forcing it to work and removing the liner I decided to return it. The fit was spot on from the sizing chart if I were to wear the helmet without anything under.

I found the ear cover leaves a pocket for cold air to creep into. It protects from side winds pretty well, but when facing directly into the wind my ears still are pretty cold. Other than that it serves its purpose perfectly. Looks great too. my 22.5 inch head fit in the 7 and 3/8 size perfect.
