Steven Goemaat's Bio

Hello there! I am an east coast transplant taking in all that is good about beautiful Salt Lake City , Utah. My summers are spent either on the crag or on the river and of course hiking and camping in between. Winter is my time and I'm proud to call the Wasatch mountains my new found backyard. I snowboard and ski as much as possible and going on new tours in the back country is a consistent goal of mine every winter.

I love these tires. Although, they are a little heavy, they make up for being extremely durable. I road over 3K miles last summer with minimal flats. They grip the road nicely, which makes me feel confident on fast descents.

I honestly do not ride anything else. My favorite size is 25 X 700, but I have yet to try out the 28's.

Been wearing these shoes for both gym and outdoor sessions. No edge technology has really allowed for me to grip those smaller foot nubs and cracks where you just need a little extra. Have put them to the test on Joes valley boulders and some walls along the wasatch. Have stretched just slightly but still killing it. Great shoe and I will definitely buy again!

These Volcom chinos are my new favorite pair of pants. Stretchy, nice fitting and durable, these are my go to skateboard pants and even still nice enough to wear on a dinner date. Volcom continues to make the best apparel out. Great buy!

The Marmot Spire pant is a great pair of pants that bridges the gap between bibs and regular pants with the built in overall system. Now this system is great and all, but one things I noticed was that I really needed to spend time with the correct adjustments in order to get the right fit. I initially was having trouble consistently pulling the overalls up off of the side of my arms. REalistically it is best to get into a skiing position and adjust the fit from there. Other than thatn, these pants have been great! Waterproof on the wet days and breathable on the warm days.... I cannot complain!
Another great product by Marmot!

Picking the right ski sock might as well take a doctor's diagnosis.... introduce the PHD ski. These socks are exactly what you look for in a quality, slim fitting and technically advanced ski sock. The durability of these socks for their low profile fit is something worth noting as I have had one pair for 4 seasons now and just grabbed my second and they look identical. I like the medium weight for a little more comfort and warmth. Easy fitting and solid in all conditions, there is nothing better on those long days when the dogs are barkin.

I have been a fan of Woolrich shirts for years. The heavy duty nature of the shirt does fit a little bit big, so if you like a form fitting shirt, dont be afraid to size down. I am 5'10" and I can wear either a medium which fits slightly large, or a small which is a little more form fitting. The heavy duty cotton is not at all water proof so wearing a base layer for all day adventures will help with wicking sweat and keeping you dry. Good for hard work days or a nice shirt for the office. Love the comfort of Woolrich and excited to grab more quality goods from them.

The villian has a couple years under its belt as far as one of salomon's all around favorites. This board is great in the park with a medium flex to stay stable on the jump lines but also soft enough to press on a good down bar. I bought this board in a 158 and like to set the stance back just a hair on a pow day. This board is as responsive in the deeps as it is on the sunny park laps which makes it one board to use in a variety of conditions. Paired with some union forces, this board is one of my favorites!

The Sorel Ankeny boots are the perfect fit between function and fashion. All rubber water proof lowers give way to a sleek leather upper with a super comfortable fit. The boots are insulated enough for colder days with good socks but not as crazy as a Sorel Caribou or some of the heavier baffin boots. I wear these mostly around town on the sloppy snow days or to the ski resort for the apres ski footwear. Dinner date and blizzard ready, you cant go wrong with these boots.

Bought these for an intermediate to expert climber with a narrow/ low volume foot. Fit was great right out of the box and a big step up on how aggressive from the Five Ten Ansazi. Super comfort and the slight toe turn down put this climber in particular in the v5-v7 range after spending a good couple months in the v4-v5 range. The toe holds super well and the scarpa rubber is equipped to hit indoor walls as well as outdoor boulders. Super satisfied with Scarpa over the years and these shoes are no different!

The Tubbs Frontier is exactly what I was looking to buy for my first pair of snowshoes. Easy of use, durability and lightweight design are the selling points but i was most impressed when I actually got these bad boys on some snow. Great float in snow under a foot and decent in the deeper stuff. Slight crampon design grabs for the steeper terrain but be careful coming down (no matter what snowshoe you are wearing). Paired up with the Black Diamond Trail Pro Trekking poles makes for a great time stompin around the foothills and enjoying the wintery abyss at a leisurely pace!

The Trilogy by Union is essentially the womens version of the Force, one of Unions top selling and best bindings out for over a decade now. This is an aggressive binding that is definitely made to drive progression in ones riding while still remaining light enough to toss around in the park or backcountry alike! Great binding from one of the best binding companies around. Made for ripping!

The Smith Variance is by far the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned or ridden in. Super light design feels like nothing on your head but is super warm and secure feeling. The added boa system in the back makes it easy to adjust the helmet to fit your head perfectly. Vents have an open and closure tab up top that is easy to access and customize. Padding is great especially for the not so ideal edge catch to tomahawk. Great helmet, great company, cannot say enough great things about this helmet. I wear a size 7 1/4" hat and a medium fit me perfect along with Smith Vice goggles.

The Nike SB Bruin Hyperfeel's are a super athletic fitting and comfortable skate shoe. Extra rubber around the early rise of the entire shoe gives it stability and durability. The tongue is super slim and lightweight so no more fatty skate shoe style flaws. Super comfortable hyperfeel insole keeps you floating on a cloud with these bad boys. Buy these, wear then out and about and then skate them like Eric Koston!

Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman fleeces are a must have for any heatseeking and style concious female. Whether you need to layer if under your ski jacket for those negative degree Vermont days, or your catching sun on the lodge deck at Brighton enjoying an apres ski chardonnay, this fleece is a go to. Fleece mix with higher density fabric face and arms give the garment durability and stretch where you need it. A super nice fit keeps you cozy and warm so you do not need to cover yourself in other layers. No more Michelin Man looks on the hill, go for the Monkey Woman look instead!

This Patagonia Snap T vest is a universal type of piece that works for almost anyone! I bought this as a gift for my grandmother on the north east. Cold weather cant slow her down and if it does, she still wears the vest around the house. Ive seen her take it on hikes and adventures as well as a complimenting piece for a bridge club outing. Seriously universal and classic style keep this as one of the top Patagonia pieces around!

Bought this as a gift for my nephew. Super comfy fleece to keep him warm at night and the early evenings when the sun drops. No loose pulls or anything to get caught on and the fleece is the perfect piece for home or play. The sizing was pretty true to most other toddler clothing companies as I got a 4T for a 3 year old. North Face keeps creating the best little kids clothes at an affordable price!

These jeans are probably the best pants I've ever owned. Stretchy pants are something that are decently new on the scene as far as male fashion goes, but Prana killed it with these. These pants are work casual friendly, climbing gym suitable and even skatepark prepared. Action wear at its finest, the bridger pants are a must have for any outdoor/ dapper gentlemen alike.

The Gloria pants are in my opinion, some of the best womens pants on the market. These pants have a slim fit but a bit of stretch so they are not restricting. Boot cuff slightly bells out to get over bulky ski or snowboard boots. With bit of insulation in the pants, the days of layering sweats and baselayers are close to over. Sweet looking pants with functional aspects. Sizing seems a bit large but could be for layering purposes.
