Smartwool makes great base and mid layer products, but their socks are what really set them a part. The cushion is consistent throughout, but still comfortable and soft to the touch, and they have not shown any signs of wear, yet. They breath very well and don't over heat even with a lot of walking and hiking.

These are great fitting shorts that easily transition from wearing out and about during your, as well as for hitting the trail and hiking for miles in short worthy weather. They appear to be durable enough to last a while and put up with some basic wear and tear, but they're also light and stretchy enough to move with you, not against you. They fit true to size for me, and are very comfortable.

If flint and steel isn't your thing, and you want something a bit more modern, to help start your fire, this might be exactly what you're looking for. Super easy to use and charge, and very quick to get a piece of tinder lit. The two prongs that the electrical charge connects too are a bit close together, so there is some limitations with that compared to a standard flame. However, it is completely impervious to the wind. Super cool and effective gadget.

Overall I am very pleased with these boots. They are a bit heavier than expected, and don't breathe quite was well as I want, but the total performance, durability, and quality of this boot is great. They run a bit stiff, which in my opinion is a big Pro, especially relative to other boots in the same category. After a very brief break in period (3 or 4 miles?) they they begin to shape to your foot and add a little flexibility. They keep traction while ripping on trail, but have the strength to maintain support and integrity for any steep, nasty, off trail endeavors. A really solid boot, especially at that price point.

The Houdini is an essential piece of gear. It weighs almost nothing and packs down so small it can fit just about anywhere. It functions as good or better than my highest hope for blocking the wind, adding a small but necessary layer of protection (and even a little warmth; but not overly so, at all!), and being fairly universal in it's applications. I can wear this at night around town or at 11,000ft in the mountains and it always performs. I looked at and tried on several light weight wind jackets and this is absolutely the best that I found. Couldn't be happier. I carry it with me during the full year, all 4 seasons, but it really excels in temps between 50 and 80 degrees.

My wife loves these jeans so much, I had to get her a second pair. Excellent style and fit. They're "skinny jeans" (fitted cut) by nature but not restricting and uncomfortable. Definitely a worthy piece of casual wear.

I run the Timp 1.5 as my daily driver shoe. I work in a warehouse with concrete floors and walk several miles a day and my feet show no signs of fatigue or soreness. I love the toe box and the grip of the sole. The construction seems solid and durable. And they look super rad with a variety of styles and pants.

From huge, rocky, steep off trail pushes, to sloppy, mucky, rainy and wet trails, these boots crush any hiking environment. They're rugged and durable, and can tackle any style of hiking or backpacking. They're stiff, but comfortable, and for this style of boots, the stiffness is a good thing; they're not overly stiff.
They run a little warm when on the move because of the goretex membrane, but that should be expected.

I expected a little more out of the coffee. It tasted like any other freeze dried coffee. I much prefer the VIA's for backpacking; take up a significant amount less space, more variety, and better tasting (to me).
However, the creamer inside is fantastic! Which you can buy separately (not from BC.com), which i highly recommend.

I've been running Microspikes for years! They offer precise grip on a sheet of ice to the point you can walk with complete confidence. They are easy to take off and on, pack very well, and last for ages. I've even been in situations on steep trails that were completely iced over, but with some exposed boulders I had "hike" over, and the spikes gripped to the smooth rock surface almost as well as they did on the ice sheets. If you are in a situation where you need grip and stability due to ice, get a pair of MicroSpikes!

A bad pair of underwear will ruin any adventure quicker than inadequate shoes. These boxer briefs are comfortable, have a great fit, and last for... well, they last longer than you'd expect a pair of underwear to last while adventuring (months? years?). I use them as my daily drivers, as well as snowboarding, backpacking, hiking, hunting, and fishing. They are my go-to's!

Hestra has established itself and the premier leather mitten and glove maker and these are exemplary! The inside is plush and super cozy for your fingers, the leather is supple but durable, and your hands stay dry and warm thanks to the gore-tex liner. I love the crab claw as it adds a level of practical usability but still offers the same level of warmth and comfort. Use them under any weather conditions, save only the warmest of spring skiing/riding days!
