While shopping for new back-to-school packs my son surprisingly picked this messenger bag. Also not to mention, he's in first grade this year. So I was a little skeptical about getting a messenger and not a regular backpack for support and comfort. So far so good, he loves the size and the strap. It offers SO MUCH room for anything he needs. The bottom of the messenger has a durable polyester ripstop and I love that it's been treated with the DWR (durable water repellent). So if he's hanging outside waiting for me to pick him up, whether it's raining or snowing, he's good. The flap offers buckles which are really easy to open and close (no pinching included). I also like that it offers a reflective stripe for low lightening when on the go. All the essentials for him going to school are included, even has a mesh elastic bottle holder for his HydroFlask.
When he's not using it, I am! It's the perfect bag for an adult that wants to carry more than maybe can fit in your purse. I've worn it while out at the zoo or concerts. It's just large enough to bring that light jacket, wallet, water bottle, accessories, phone, snacks, etc. It has organizer pockets for just about everything without feeling overwhelmed. I included some more detailed photos just encase you're wondering what it looks like in there. I'm 5'9" and this works great on my hip or even goes down much lower if needed. The adjustability is a nice detail, if you've tried on other messengers some don't offer that as much as you would think.
Carter is also wearing his new The North Face Graphic Tee in Boys' Short Sleeve T-shirts which is offered here at Backcountry.com
