Sara Gemmell's Bio

After growing up and going to school in Michigan, my itch for the outdoors found me in Utah not long after I graduated from Northern Michigan University with my Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. I grew up with a love for skiing and I couldn't stay away from the mountains, so after a ski season of instructing in Park City, I decided to try to make Utah home. I worked a number of jobs, in a variety of industries, all with the goal of pursuing a career in the Outdoor Industry. Now, after a year of working for The North Face at the retail level, I am continuing to grow a career in the industry with the Backcountry.com team.

I purchased these to clean my Camelbak reservoir and they work great! The directions were very straight forward and the solution washed out very easy after the cleaning was complete. I wish the bag included more tabs, but I will definitely purchase again when I run out!

This shirt is great to throw on with jeans and sandals! The material is awesome and I love how the fit is a little longer. It doesn't have quite as loose and casual of a fit as it looks on model, but I like how it fits!

I love how comfortable this shirt is! I thought that it would be a little more casual, loose fitting, but the small fits slimmer than it looked on model. I wish I would have sized up, but it is so comfy that I didn't want to return it!

I love how this sweater fits! It is so cute and easy to wear casually or to dress up a bit, but it is so itchy! I have tried wearing it with a shirt underneath and it helps, but it looks a little strange. Also, I would recommend being very careful when washing this sweater because it fits differently after I washed it, it seems a little stretched out along the bottom.

I purchased a pair of these and the Kara Jean because I have heard such wonderful reviews on Prana Denim, and I like how they fit but they are a little long. They fit well in my hips and thighs and they don't look bad rolled up, but I wish they had a short length.

I purchased a pair of these and the Kara Jean because I have heard such wonderful things about Prana Denim, but I was not impressed. The length on the Kara Jean is good (I purchased a Short) but they do not fit well in my hips or thighs. I ordered the same size in the Kayla and they fit much more true to size. I washed them and tried wearing them a few times thinking that they would feel a little more worn-in, but I ended up giving them to a friend because I still wasn't loving how they fit.

I love this bike rack! It was so simple to install (no tools needed) and I feel like my bike is very safe up there. It is nice not to have to take my front tire off and even being on the roof of my car I can easily get my bike up there and secured. I thought it was a little strange that a lock was not included, but my bike lock works fine to lock it to the frame and my cross bars.

I purchased these shorts for mountain biking to wear over my my padded shorts. I love them! The stretch fabric makes these shorts very comfortable and I love the feminine color options. They have the adjustable waist band feature, but the size 26 that I purchased fits great so I didn't need to do any adjusting.

I purchased this as a gift for my cousin for a lightweight spring rain jacket that will keep her dry, but also has a flattering fit. She is going to be a freshman in college this fall and I thought this jacket would be perfect for her walk to and from class. She loves it!

I recently purchased the Nina's for touring, but I also wanted a ski that would charge in bounds. The Nina's are the best of both world's! They are lightweight, playful, but still charge through any conditions. Because of the rockered tip and tail they do ski a lot shorter than I expected, so I would definitely suggest demoing them before buying.

I am very excited about my first tech binding purchase! I purchased the Radical ST's because I still wanted a binding with breaks if I ever ski them in-bounds, but also something that is lightweight for touring. These bindings are very easy to use! Switching from ski to tour mode is easy and dropping the 2 different heal elevator levels is easy, as well. I skied these in-bounds for the first time yesterday and I was impressed by their performance on groomers as well as in the backcountry. I will definitely recommend these bindings to anyone in the market for a tech binding.

I purchased this lightweight moisture-wicking head band for hiking, XC skiing, and touring and I love it! It is not fleece-lined, so I would not recommend it for keeping your ears very warm, but it does the job for high-intensity activities.

I recently purchased this hat and I love it! It is great for accessorizing a casual outfit or throwing on at the beach. I was worried about the fit, but the small fits me great!

I recently purchased this pack for touring after being so happy with my Osprey backpacking pack that I purchased last summer. The women's-specific fit is great, and I am still finding more neat features each time I use it. The front compartment has room for my probe and shovel, the waist-strap pockets are huge (love that my glove-liner fit in there when my hands get warm), and the back compartment fits skins, a shell, and my Camelbak bladder with ease! I am very excited to get more use out of this pack!
