Sara Gemmell's Bio

After growing up and going to school in Michigan, my itch for the outdoors found me in Utah not long after I graduated from Northern Michigan University with my Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. I grew up with a love for skiing and I couldn't stay away from the mountains, so after a ski season of instructing in Park City, I decided to try to make Utah home. I worked a number of jobs, in a variety of industries, all with the goal of pursuing a career in the Outdoor Industry. Now, after a year of working for The North Face at the retail level, I am continuing to grow a career in the industry with the Backcountry.com team.

These sling bags are the perfect balance of function and style. They come in great color offerings, have so many pockets and they are surprisingly roomy. I love that they have the external pockets on the front for a phone, chap-stick and a wallet. These bags are great!

These bowls are a great addition to the camp bin for the pups. They are very durable, hold both food and water and collapse down to nearly flat. I also love how big they are so that you aren't refilling the water often around the campsite. These are great for outdoor pups!

These shorts are great for running or hiking. They are very lightweight, breathable and dry quickly if they get damp. The power-stretch mesh and draw cord along the waist allow for perfect fit and comfort and the interior pocket is a great place to store car keys while on a run.

This light works great for keeping an eye on the dogs while they roam at night while camping. Unlike similar lights, this one is small enough that it doesn't seem to bulky to leave on their collars all of the time and it doesn't get caught on other things while hiking. The water-resistance is a great feature so that you don't need to worry about taking it off if your pup is going to get wet. I would highly recommend for any outdoor pups!

I recently purchased the Better Sweater is Stonewash for my Dad for his birthday, he loves these fleeces. He already has it in the Classic Red and Bleached Stone and lives in them, so I figured another color would be great to add to his wardrobe. The Better Sweaters fit great and last forever, they look great even after being washed a lot of times. I am sure this won't be the last Better Sweater I purchase.

I have now owned three of these collars between our two dogs and our puppy growing out of his first one. They are great! They come in awesome patterns, the buckle makes it easy to take them on and off, they have a reflective thread weaved in for visibility, they are very durable and they stay remarkably clean!

I recently upgraded to this beacon from an older Pieps model because of it's ease of use and from what I have heard it is reliable. The functions are very straight forward and easy to switch quickly into search mode. I also appreciate the bungee that keeps the beacon attached to the carrier strap to avoid dropping it and loosing it in the snow while searching (my previous beacon did not have this feature). This is a great and reliable beacon that I would recommend for anyone looking for an easy to use and reliable beacon.

I recently purchased this hat and it has been great for xc skiing, backcountry skiing and hiking. It is warm, yet breathable and I love that it has the fleece lining. It is a great, colorful accessory to add to your winter outerwear collection and it fits very well, not too loose, not too tight.

These skis do it all. I purchased these skis for my touring setup, but they are a great all around ski. The multi-layer wood core and uni-directional carbon frame keeps them lightweight, but still stiff enough to charge through variable conditions and the 102mm waist and rockered profile allows for them to float through deeper snow. I would recommend this ski for anyone looking for a great, all-around ski that is a little on the stiff side with the ability to charge through any condition.

I had put off purchasing a pair of these for so long (because I thought they were unnecessary) until a gnarly slip and fall while hiking this winter. After a bruised elbow (and ego), I finally ordered a pair and they haven't come off my hiking/running shoes since. These are so light weight and easy to put on, the only issue I have had with them is that the smalls are just slightly big for my Women's 7 1/2 size feet. They haven't fallen off at all, they just shift slightly when I am hiking on uneven ground and I have to adjust them. Overall, I am very happy with them and feel much more well-equipped for hiking on icy trails.

My dad has traditionally been gifted a new pair of slippers every Christmas because he is known for wearing them so much that they usually have holes by the next year. Not anymore! The suede leather upper and rubber out-sole makes these slippers built to last!

I purchased these for my mom for Christmas and she loves them! The faux fur insulation keeps her feet warm and the durable rubber sole makes it easy to run out to grab the mail without worrying about slipping on the driveway. She joked that she could shovel the driveway in these for the rest of the winter!

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend and it was just what he was looking for! He wanted a small, versatile fishing pack that was easy to access while in the river or while sitting on shore. The drop down front panel and bottle holder are two of his favorite features!

The Skida Alpine Headband is my new favorite accessory for any chilly outdoor adventures! The fleece lining paired with the poly-spandex outer keeps your ears warm and dry. The pattern options are adorable and add a pop of color to your outerwear. And, the spandex material allows for stretch but also a tight enough fit so that it stays in place to keep your ears warm. I paired the Alpine Headband with the Tour Neckwarmer and love them!

A polyester neck-warmer that doesn't get wet and freeze AND is super cute! A win win! I am so excited about my Skida Tour neckwarmer and matching headband. They are functional for skiing and hiking, and I love the great pattern options that add a pop to your outerwear. The material is so soft and stretchy and drys super quickly. I am very happy with this neckwarmer!

After a couple of seasons in the Tecnica Cochise Pro 105's, I decided it was time to upgrade to a lighter-weight, stiffer boot, with more range of motion. So far, I am impressed! At just 3lbs, these boots allow for ease on the way up, but still charge like an all mountain boot on the way down. For any ladies looking for a touring boot that skis with the stiffness of an all mountain boot, the Zero G Guide's are the boot for you!

Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 3"
Size Purchased: Small

I recently purchased the OM Sports Bra from Lucy because I love their athletic-wear, but had yet to purchase a sports bra from them. It is very cute, I like the removable cups, the material is great and it is very supportive, but it runs a little small.
