Familiarity: I've used it several times

Although it is our first backpacking tent we think that it is probably the best first backpacking tent for anyone.
Lightweight, freestand, easy mount, good price ($132),....
We used it several times in 4 months (Grand Canyon 3 days hike, Mogollon Rim, Monument Valley, White Sands, California beaches, Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon,...) and the tent still looks like new. It is really lightweight and with good weather you don't have to carry with the fly and stakes. We didn't use it with rain, so we can't talk about this point. We didn't notice any condensation when used it with the fly. The vestibules are big enough to accommodate your boots and backpack.
I am 6' tall with big feet, so my toes touch the mesh, but this wasn't a big problem, maybe someone taller and bigfeeter than me should look for another tent.
