Rachael Van Dolah's Bio

While a native to South Carolina and drawn to the coast, warmth, and the sunshine, I have uprooted for a change of pace and have now called Salt Lake City, UT home for the past 4 years. With a variety of terrain, Utah offers endless opportunities to get out and explore. When the weather is warm, I can be found camping, hiking, running, backpacking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee all over the state. When winter is back in full swing, I tend to stay in the Salt Lake area and can be found skiing up at Snowbird or snowshoeing with the pups in Millcreek.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I purchased this helmet as a Father's Day gift and ultimately ended up returning simply because he was not in need of a new helmet quite yet. This style has a great design. Overall really breathable, light weight, and easily adjustable. The only complaints I have involve the size and durability of the visor/brim. It is nice that this style offers a brim since many do not, however it is very thin and easy to bend. I would worry that with time it may crack when taking on and off. It could be more sturdy than I gave it credit for, however that was my initial impression. I also found the brim a little short (depth wise) for my liking. It will offer some shade, but I am not sure it would ultimately offer enough. Overall this is great helmet for the price and a nice design. If the brim is not a huge concern for you this one would be a good option to consider.

I only have initial impressions to offer since this is a very recent purchase, but this is a pretty cool little computer. I ultimately selected this style by CatEye because it offers all of the functions I am looking for. The screen is small, yet easy to read and the functions are simple to cycle through. Mounting took a little while, however once installed it seems to be working well. Only time will tell, however I think this will be perfect for what I need on my road bike and is a huge upgrade from the older wired version.

I am not sure where they go, but it seems like tire levers always disappear when you need them. I purchased these a spares for a bike pack since they are small, light weight, and a good deal. It never hurts to have a few spares around your home, pack, or seat bag for when you have a tube or tire issue. I have not had to use these yet (knock on wood), however they should do the trick!

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 135 lbs
Size Purchased: Small

I purchased these as a work out short since I am not partial to the short shorts offered for ladies these days. I may have overdone it on the length since these may be just a tad long for my size, however they are really comfy. The shorts are light weight, breathable, quick drying, and stretchy. The waist band does have a drawstring for adjustment if needed. I would recommend these for anyone looking for some longer workout/lounge shorts. If you think the 10 inch may be a little longer than you want as well, Under Armour does offer a similar short with an 8 inch inseam.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Small enough to be tossed in a gear bag, durable enough to hold up to regular use, and decent pressure when pumping up your tires. The main draw for this pump was the Anyvalve feature. While most of our bikes are Presta, we do have a few Schrader in the mix and it is always a pain to carry around the screw in attachment to make that change. This pump solves that problem and makes pumping tires in a mixed bike group a breeze. For the price it is a great pump.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and he loves it. Unfortunately he has not had a chance to test this out yet due to the snow on the mountain, but should be able to soon. This being said, I only have fit and initial impressions to offer as feedback. Overall he raves about the fit and look. The large ran true to size, really light weight, tons of ventilation for those hot summer days, and while a little bit more in price the MIPS feature is great. He isn't always good about replacing his helmets when needed so I thought this feature is perfect for providing me with peace of mind. The Matte Vermilion ended up being my color choice since orange is his favorite color. It will also offer high visibility as he tends to ride after work throughout the summer. Overall I think this will be a great addition to him biking gear.

Fit: True to size

I purchased these sandals as a gift for my dad and he absolutely loves them. He is pretty partial to Keen overall, but has always found the footbeds to be a little too hard for his linking. He would always wear these on the boat or near the water, but it wasn't always his go to for walking around. Keen found a solution however and now offers this shoe. The footbed is nice and cushioned, still offers the same features and support as the other styles, and still pretty light with the addition. The other cool feature he mentioned was that the footbed is removable. Great when you need to wash or when you simply do not wish for the extra padding. These have been a hit!

*** Sizing wise he told me these ran true to size for the most part, however possibly a half or quarter size small. The 11's worked for him, but he was on the fence about exchanging for the 10.5. He ended up sticking with the 11 because he did not want to lose too much length.

I love Prana hats. The only problem is, it is hard to make a decision because I like them all. Finally made a selection and as I expected it is perfect. I have used their hats for years and they hold up well with time, can be washed when needed, adjustable, breathable (for those toasty days), and all around a good addition to any trip where you need a little shade.

I purchased this item as a gift and it was a hit. Perfect for those slightly chilly days when you just want a little something, but can also be used as a medium weight layer when it is time to bundle up. This jacket has a nice soft material, well designed, and true to size. No complaints at this time!

This Thule rack is great. Large enough to carry that third bike if needed. It has a sleek design, easy to put on/take off bikes, folds fairly compact for storage, light weight, simple to install on car, should be durable to withstand many years of use, and will universally fit the cars we need. Overall this rack is perfect!

I am amazed that I had not seen these before, but they are pretty neat. I ended up grabbing a shave soap and it is so cool. They are little sheets of shaving powder/cream . Just add water and it will lather up nicely. Figured this was a good addition to a toiletry kit and certainly will not encounter issues when passing through a TSA check point.

I was looking for a sleeping bag liner that could be used for warmer nights in the summer when you really want little more than a sheet for protection. This particular liner is exactly what I was looking for. I was not seeking an ultra light weight, overly compact, high tech, or anything more than a simple liner. If you are seeking any of those features, you may be best with a different style. Overall this one will be perfect for me!

I purchased these tablets mainly for travel. While most countries have clean drinking water available, the water quality can be questionable in some locations. I have used these tablets while in the Backcountry and found that they are easy to use, light weight to carry, and relatively quick at treating the water you intend to drink. I also really like that this particular tablet does not cause your water to taste like pennies or a swimming pool once treated. Overall never hurts to have a few stashed in your travel kit.

I really like the Ben's product and have used it for year. I had not seen these wipes before, but figured I would give these a shot. While the sprays are great for around the house, I always worry about putting a bottle of liquid in my bag while travelling for fear that it will be jostled open and my gear will reek of bug spray. These wipes offer a safe option for travel and allow you to apply the product without having to spray everything you have on down. Overall a great option and easy to tuck away in a bag or pocket.

I purchased this item as a gift for my parents heading on a trip abroad. I was trying to think of something fun as a Valentine's gift and remembered that I purchased this exact kit a few years ago for myself. I have found it handy many times and figured this was a good route to go. It is fairly basic, but a great addition to your toiletry kit covering most items you may need from time to time and very compact.

I purchased this boot as a replacement for my boyfriend when his Salomon boots blew out on day two. He had his heart set on the boots he initially picked out until he tried on these Vans boots. He has not had a single complaint and has been head over heels about them. Extremely comfortable, nice and stiff (what he wanted), and heat moldable. All in all they have been a hit and he has managed to maximize his days out on the slopes for the past month. I think he has been converted over to the Vans club.
