Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've worn multiple versions of the PI Elite Pursuit bib shorts over the years and this one is my favorite. I see there are a few complaints about the new silicone grip and the raw hem, but I love 'em -- it's probably a personal preference. I've had other brand bib shorts with the same approach and yeah, depending on your leg shape the grip fabric may not be snug (which you'll only notice above 60kph when it flaps). For me, the PI shorts fit more snugly so that give this model an edge over some competitive offerings. Chamois is fine, not the fanciest but works well for all day rides. I'm 5'11" and 155lbs and medium fits well.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

So far I've tried it from low 40s to low 50s and these are great. I've used regular bib shorts with leg warmers in the past, but these bib tights are better in two ways: (1) there is more insulation on the front of the leg, and (2) there is less on the back. So I'm warmer on the descent and don't overheat on the climbs. Interestingly, I wear a medium in Rapha and PI, and the medium in these Castelli tights fit perfectly -- I didn't see a need to order a size up. (5'11" 150lbs)

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Good materials, and I was excited to try this out -- I've had a few of the same model from a few years ago and they are the workhorses of my kit. I ordered a medium (5'11", 150lbs) and the fit was solid. But the new speed sleeves reminded me of a sphygmomanometer. I'm a cyclist, nobody has ever accused me of having "guns", or for that matter ever even commented on my biceps. However, the cuffs on the speed sleeves were tight enough around the brachial artery that I was worried I'd lose circulation to my fingers after a minute or two. While this might stretch out after a while, it's just not something I feel like dealing with. Other brands have form-fitting sleeves that fit just fine, I think PI just got a little too aggressive on this go around.

I liked the fabric of the jersey, everything seems high quality. But I had to return it for the fit. I usually run a medium in PI (5'11", 150lbs), and based on other reviews I ordered a large. The cut is just weird: it's tight across the chest and loose around the waist. Really loose, like I could have 2" more belly before I'd even start to fill the jersey. Maybe I should try a medium, but then I feel like my chest would be crushed, so I'm going to pass for another piece of more traditional PI kit.
