Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I had to try out a few different boots before settling on these. The past few seasons I've ridden thirtytwo TM-Twos, which I loved for their relative comfort and stiffness. After trying on a newer pair of TM-Twos, I noticed several pressure points and decided to pass on them. I next tried some Burton Rulers, which were comfy but a little too soft for me. Then I tried the Photons. They are by far the most comfy boots I've ever worn. After two days riding in a row I haven't noticed any pressure points, and my feet feel great. The boots are true to size and the stiffness rating is about right. They're also my first pair of boots with a Boa lacing system, and I love the convenience and speed. Would definitely recommend these to any intermediate-advanced rider in need of a slightly stiffer boot.

I've only ridden 2 days in these boots so far, but I love em! Comfortable, lightweight, stiff but not too stiff, and very responsive. For a good all-mountain boot I can't recommend these enough. I read a few reviews that say to go up a half-size, but I found them true to size. I also recommend having the liners heat-molded before taking them up to the mountain.
