People say you can spend many an hour reflecting on the facts and fictions of life whilst hiking mile after mile on a trail, whether through the wooded wonders of the forest or up the sides of a rugged, booming mountain top. Having hiked many a mile myself, I really thought that with this amount of reflection I had a chance at being the next Thoreau, Walden, or Dillard. However, the fact of my life is, all I really think about when hiking is what, when, and where my next meal will be. And thank the heavens above for the invention of this little devil, the PocketRocket. I absolute trust and adore the efficiency, reliability, and versatility of this stove. Not only is it super lightweight, this thing has water boiling in a matter of minutes. Who knew a little gadget could be so dangerously impressive? I’ve cooked lightweight backpacker meals and fired up some gourmet meat and potatoes in a pot over this little flame. Although there is not much of a simmer on this baby, and it doesn’t do great in super cold temperatures, it is my go-to stove the rest of the time.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

From ocean to stream, to lakeside then poolside, I've had no issues with these bottoms! They have great coverage and for someone who doesn't sit still when there is water to play in, I don't feel like I need to adjust them every 5 seconds. Have had them for a couple years now and they're still hangin' in there!

Albert Einstein once said, “Make things as simple as possible, no simpler.” And if that doesn’t answer all your questions, here’s what I have to say. I bought the Minimalist jacket several years ago filled with anticipation and joy, joy that I might have have found the jacket that exhibited the perfect combination of light and long-lasting; comfort and versatility; breath-ability and impermeability; sexy and cute. I’ve taken this jacket to the windy peak of Chirripo in Costa Rica to the stormy skies of Montana. It’s super compressible and lightweight and it fits wonderfully over layers if need be. I have experienced some serious condensation with this jacket, which is no fun for anyone, but I attribute it to the high humidity I was in, sometimes, you’re just going to sweat a lot when it’s hot and raining, so embrace it. In the meantime, take a hint from ‘ol Einstein here, sometimes you don’t need a product with unnecessary features and gimmicks, just one that works, plain and simple. Marmot gives you...the minimalist.

These sandals are perfect to throw on for shorter hikes or as base camp shoes! They are super lightweight and extremely comfortable! I normally wear a perfect size 10 and that is what I got, can't complain! They are my go to sandal, and will pay tribute to these original sandals by wearing them...all the time.

And, say "yes" to these boots! Ya know, sometimes, you just don't want to have to think about if your feet are going to be cold, or if you're going to have to walk around that slushy puddle because you chose to wear a pair of Toms in the middle of February. So, my solution, throw on a pair of these bad boys, and your feet are ready for it all...sledding, ice fishing, caroling, walking to the grocery store, and any other venture you may need to conquer during those frigid winter months. I love the 1964 look, the leather ones are super cool, but the CSV provided the waterproofing I needed. And, I am so down with the fact that you can remove the liners to warm them up or dry them off in front of the fireplace in case you really put them through the wringer that day! When in doubt, take the Sorel's out.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When going home for Christmas, I used to steal these from my mom to go on winter hikes/jaunts through the woods to protect my feet and legs from the beloved snowy and wet conditions of the Adirondack mountains. The straps hold up well and they really do keep you dry, even when post-holing up to your knees! I finally ponied up and a bought a pair for myself, and wouldn't wear any other gaiter.

It’s as if I’ve been searching my entire life for that one perfect moment, where wishful thinking turns into reality and exciting anticipation translates to pure, without a doubt, you better believe it, satisfaction. And you know, I didn’t believe it at first, but it was true, the search really ended, and that blissful moment will last a lifetime, because...the perfect pant does exist. Nothing quite beats the versatility, mobility and function I have received from wearing the prAna Halle pant. No other pant allows me to go from office to outdoors with such ease, grace and comfort. The stretchy fabric allows plenty of play when hiking up the hill or scaling a rock wall, and the DWR finish wicks water away wonderfully! If I could have one last wish from prAna, it would without a doubt be for deeper pockets.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Recently purchased the G3 Targa telemark binding for our dad as a gift! He's had great success with this binding on his gear. It is fantastically light for uphill tours and has the strength to hang with the turns on the way down. It is definitely not the most stiff Tele binding, but it will get the job done!

I recently made a purchase of the Kye 95 ski for my dad. Our old man needed the perfect blend of an all mountain ripper as well as a great mountaineering ski. The ski feels incredibly light and nimble, and though I didn't get the feeling it would perform tip top had electric speeds, that is not why I made the purchase. Was definitely looking for something that could turn quickly and move fast uphill, and the Kye 95 was the right decision!

The sun is out, the guns are most certainly out, and the water is fine. Bought this super, fun loving, strappy, scrappy piece of a suit for my sister who absolutely adored the design of the crisscross back. Nothing more exciting than business in the front, and party in the back! She keeps it fresh, and so does L Space. Her only comments were, “Thought it ran a little small.”

This is a timeless mid-weight fleece for those cozy nights by the fireside, curled up with a hot cup of cocoa, or long walks on a brisk frosty evening, neath a perfectly paired winter jacket. A relaxed fit, that hits just above the hips, the Patagonia Synchilla Lightweight Snap-T Pullover is my go-to for any and all activity in need of fleece. And to top it off, what a beautiful array of colors to choose from, how could you go wrong?

I bought these boots for my sister, but I have the same exact ones! Hunter absolutely puts out a quality product. Even the box that these boots come in are super nice. They are durable, comfortable, good looking, and of course, perfect for those rainy days. I would highly recommend these.

I bought these skis for my mom, for one reason, she kills it on the hill. She needed a versatile ski for east and west coast terrain that would provide both stability when forging through crud but also allow some atmospheric play when floating on that powder! The Aretha was it. I, myself, was able to demo these skis for a day and had a blast! The conditions were a bit cruddy and icy, but the edges gripped and I always felt in control. 4FRNT is local here in Salt Lake City, and an awesome team to work with and support!
