Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The helix is one of Scarpa's most popular shoes. One of the first things I noticed about the helix when I bought them was how amazingly comfortable they are. Right away my feet fit nice and snuggly inside of them. As I used them more the shoes molded even better to my feet. And they are the most comfortable climbing shoes i’ve ever used. The shoes tongue is a nice padded and breathable tongue which I think adds to the overall comfortableness.
The primary material on the outside is leather, so keep in mind that these will stretch out a little.
The laces on the helix basically go from the top all the way down to the toes. So this gives you a lot of adjustability. It doesn't matter if you have wide or thin feet. You can loosen or tighten the laces to help give you the best possible fit.
The Vibram XS edge rubber provides a good grip and according to Scarpa It is also really durable and enhances the life of the shoe. Seems to be the case so far. I haven’t worn these down a bit.
Because the helix has a firm flat sole it provides a nice solid platform to stand on. So yeah, Not a lot of bend in it. If you are looking for something that can perform on steep inclined routs, I don’t recommend the this shoe. The Helix shines on long vertical walls that require hard edging.
Overall, I think the Scarpa Helix is a solid choice if you are looking for a comfortable flat shoe.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Positives: I really like the design and how light it is compared to the Gri Gri. The lever is made out of aluminum which feels way more solid than the plastic Gri Gri lever. The lifeguard works great for top roping too.

Negatives: I had problems when lead belaying with this device. Unfortunately, I don't like leaving a lot of slack in the rope, so when my partner is clipping I need to get rope out fast. That's when the lifeguard jams up. It's not a problem at all if you feed the rope out slowly. It would only jam when I was trying to feed rope out really fast. My partner and I would get really frustrated and in the end I decided to sell my Lifeguard to a friend and i'm just using my old atc till I find something better.

Overall: The MadRock Lifeguard is still a good device, it just wasn't for me.

The Osprey Mira AG 26L is an impressive pack. The anti gravity frame is fantastic. I've never owned a pack with such amazing ventilation.
The rain cover is also super handy. Fits over the entire pack and then folds away nicely in the bottom pouch.
The magnetic bit valve is another stroke of genius. It makes it easy to get a quick drink while on the trail. No more fiddling around with the bit valve.
The scratch free zippered pocket is great for my glasses. I no longer have to worry about scratching them when i'm on the go.
There are many other amazing features to this pack but these are my favorites. I absolutely love it. Overall a stellar design and so worth the price.

This is the best all around harness i've found. Whether you want to do top roping, lead climbing, or even ice climbing this harness can do it all. It's very comfortable and durable. i've put it through the wringer and it's still in great shape. So If you are looking for one harness that can tackle both winter and summer climbing look no further.

Comfy and light

Best harness I've ever owned. I've only used it in the gym so far and i'm already in love with it. Whether you are taking a lead whipper or just hanging around, while staring cluelessly at your route, i've found this harness to be surprisingly comfortable for how lightweight and slim it is. It packs down nice and small and doesn't clutter your gym bag. Unfortunately there is not a haul loop, (AKA chalk bag loop) on the back. Other than that this is a great harness and I totally recommend it.
