I have worn Altra shoes (multiple models, road and trail) since the company launched and they continue to progress their technology and design. The Olympus is Altra's maximally cushioned shoe and I find that I can roll right over virtually anything on the trail without anything poking into the sole of my foot and with good stability. I was concerned that the stack height might make them a bit wobbly, but they are quite stable. The Vibram Megagrip outsole is the the absolute greatest thing ever - think climbing shoe sticky rubber on a trail shoe. I can't stress enough how much of a game changer the grip is. My only complaints are that the laces are comically long and the toe cap seems to peel off pretty easily from stubbing toes on roots or rocks. This is not a significant enough issue that I would not purchase another pair, but I would expect better quality. I noted that the shoe fits true to size, and that is correct; however, if you have other Altra shoes do not assume they will be the same. I wear a different size Altra across three models (this is an issue the company struggles with across products).

I own several pairs of past model strider pro's (5 inch and 9 inch) and these provide all of the same features at a different length option. I have worn them recently on day hikes and trail runs in weather conditions that ran the gamut and on terrain that included some rocky scrambles and dense bushwacks and they show no wear and tear despite being snagged a few times. The stash pockets are big enough for trail food and light accessories. I carried 3 cliff bars, a houdini and an iphone without feeling like the shorts were too weighed down. They resist water and dry quickly if they do become soaked (the liner takes longer to dry). One change from other models is these have a bike short type liner. I typically cut out the liner and wear my own compression undergarment, but i have been wearing these with the built in liner and I have not experienced any chaffing. My only complaint would be the liner material is a bit too thick for my preference and makes the shorts feel hotter. They fit true to size, if a bit roomier than other versions.

i have worn this shirt on a spring skins, day hikes, long distance trail runs, and to the office on casual fridays and it has not disappointed. it drys fairly quickly after getting drenched in the rain and i did not have any chafing when wearing for long trail runs. i bought a large because i wanted it big, but i would say it fits true to other patagonia shirts.
