Michael H's Bio

I am a gear junkie that spends countless hours of time researching the gear that I will end up buying. I love owning the 'best' of what's out there because I like to know that it will last me through the ages and is functional and efficient.

Born and raised in Alabama, I moved to Colorado for a few years before landing in my current spot: Los Angeles, California. I fell in love exploring the outdoors while in Colorado and enjoy travelling the world in search of the next great adventure.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

The pillow itself looks like its great, but the deal breaker for me was that it does not pack up very small. Picture rolling the pillow and stuffing it into the sack. I returned this and camped a week without a pillow in a hammock and did not miss it at all. 3 stars because it is adequate for the job its intended for, but that's about it.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used this during a week long trip on the beaches of Puerto Rico. This kept all of my stuff off the sand and was awesome to have right under me while I slept in case I wanted to reach for a bottle of water or some snacks. It did take me some trial and error on how low to position below the hammock, because the first couple of times I actually felt I was putting my body weight on the sling as I laid in the hammock. This resulted in the cords snapping from the sling, so I know there is no way a human being could lay in this. Fortunately, it was an easy fix.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I use this in my GoPro 3+ Black running 60 fps in 1080p and the card takes it all. No issues at all. For those that are getting into GoPros, you must have a card that can handle the HD and frames per second if you want great looking footage. This is the best out there!

I was excited when I saw this helmet online, mainly because of the softshell feature. I did not have any fit issues like some of the other reviewers, and the helmet actually felt really, really nice on my head.

While getting familiar with the helmet, I actually found out that the 'earmuffs' can be completely detached by snaps and the goggle hook on the back of the helmet can be removed by simply sliding it out. This turns the helmet into what I would think to be a skateboard/bmx helmet. Pretty cool to have the versatility, but not something I need for that purpose.

The only thing I do not like about this helmet is that it gave me a bubble head look when I put it on, and I couldn't get over it. Gotta look good to feel/ski good, right? So unfortunately, this will be returned. 4 stars for having nice features but less 1 star for the bubblehead look of it.

Love the fit of these goggles!! Like another reviewer, I will say that I do get some occasional lens fog, but this has only been during heavy work, such as hiking, but even then it has not been bad. The best thing to do is to get some airflow moving and any fog very quickly disappears.

A key note is that wiping the inside of any lens is one of the worst things you can do. Not only will it scratch the lens, but it can destroy any anti-fog coating.
