I attended the Moab THAW recently to narrow down which bike I wanted. The Mojo 3 was not on my radar at all, to be honest, but ended up being my favorite bike I demoed! I loved how playful it was, liked how it moved over technical terrain, and prefer the 27.5 sized tires. Needless to say, it's a pleasure to ride, and will be getting a lot of use this season!

I love water bladders because I hydrate significantly better than if I have to stop and open a water bottle to drink. I had a Platypus that has been through the wringer, multiple years of constant use, over multiple continents. The baffling on this one threw me off a bit, but it still has the easy clean, detach hose, and fill features I love. I'm looking forward to using this bladder for many, many trips to come!

Here's what the birthday boy had to say: "It's hard to find a comparable down jacket in this price point. It fits like I would expect and is warm and cozy. It looks equally good in the city or the mountains. Don't expect it to keep you warm if you are sitting still in freezing cold temps, but when you understand layering and use it for its intended purpose you'll be happy."

I'll take that as a win.

What I love about these shorts: they are made of a very soft material, have a waistband that's not too tight, and have pockets! I have worn these to the gym, around the house, and to shovel snow.

What I don't love: the length could be a bit longer, for my 33" inseam legs! I would love if they had a liner too, for better coverage.

I really wanted to buy a pair of Ahnu's identical to my previous pair, because I love them so much, but settled on this model due to the better pricing.

What I love about Ahnu shoes is the fit. They're comfortable, lightweight, and create no hotspots for me straight out of the box. I'm itching for the snow to melt so I can try them out on a trail!

The only negative I've found up until this point, which another review mentioned, is that they don't breathe super well. My socks were pretty wet when I took them off at the end of the night. Overall, a great shoe so far!

Here's what she had to say:

I'll start by saying this jacket is very warm! I've been sporting a 650 fill down jacket for couple years now, after wearing this 750 fill Mt Hardware jacket around a few times I've noticed how easily I can overheat in it. If I'm walking to work, or keep it on for a quick run into the grocery store, it definitely gets toasty!! I love this jacket, because whether I'm out on the mountain skiing, or standing still on the river casting my rod, I don’t want to worry about shivering! It fits true to size; I prefer my jackets to be more fitted, but with room underneath for a fleece or sweater. I'm 5’10 and 150 lbs, and am sporting a size Medium. Did I mention, I also love the colors available for this jacket? Blue Spruce is lovely!

I purchased this beanie for warmth and style, and couldn't be more pleased. Bonus: you still look good even if you didn't have time to wash your hair that day. It's not too thick, so I don't overheat, or have muted hearing. The purple color contrasts my green eyes nicely, and I love the baggy slouch at the back. As a coworker said, "It plays well on you!"

For the quality and function it serves, this is a great bang for your buck! I had originally purchased a large and x-large in this jacket, one for myself, and one as a gift for my sister. As it turns out, we both fit the large. (I'm a 38B, and she's a 34i, both near 6'0", with long torsos.) The fit of the waist is still a bit too loose on both of us, but for the quality and price it's negligible. I'm stoked for her to replace her cotton layer with this for backpacking!

I really wanted to love this pullover. The color of it and the feel of the material are swell. What I can't handle is that I could be easily pregnant with triplets and would probably still have room to spare in the midsection! If I was handy at tailoring on a sewing machine I'd be tempted to keep it; as it is, I'm returning it.

I purchased this jacket with the intent of it being a light jacket to wear at work. What I love about it: the color (amethyst) and the price. What could be improved: the length (it feels a bit short on my long torso), and material quality (that's where price comes in though-I prefer a softer texture). Overall, this fulfills the intent for which it was purchased.

I purchased this top for active use in cooler temps.

I love the Elwa blue color, hood, thumb holes in the sleeves, and 1/4 zipper. My only complaint, which is a large reason I haven't worn it too much, is that the fit is a bit odd on me. For my long torso I feel like there's barely enough length, yet kind of an odd, baggy fit around the midsection. Not a super flattering fit for my lean build.

I purchased this because I was sick of having no pockets, or only pockets that fit a Chapstick, to hold items I need with me at work. This allows me to be mobile, without the hindrance of purse straps.

The front pocket is softly lined, and ideal for my glasses. The main pocket I can stash my phone, keys, clip wallet, and a snack bar.

I ordered the zanzibar style, and love the unique print!

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second time buying this set, as my first pot finally had to be retired. I used the first one for five months on the AT, 19 months of guiding, and nine months in NZ before the non stick coating started coming off.

I love the size of this pot (allowing me to boil one liter of water for a hottie), and the ease of cleaning it. The orange plastic on the handle makes it useless for anything but a stove, as a fire would likely just melt it off. I don't bother bringing the cup/bowl when I'm backpacking, and the spork is basically a gag gift in terms of its usefulness. The lid's design allows one to pour off excess liquid without dumping the contents into the dirt, which has definitely come in handy. Depending on your appetite, it could cook food for two (I usually fill it about halfway with my dinners.) Overall, this has been my trusty go-to the last few years.

I was pleasantly surprised by the soft texture these had, and experienced no chaffing or ingrown hairs that have been so common with my backpacking experiences. They breathe well, dry quickly, and have seams that might as well be invisible. The only con I found was that they tended to bunch up a bit in my crack as I hiked at times, though it was never uncomfortable.

Smartwool has never let me down in the past, and once again they packed a grand slam. I'm very particular when it comes to footwear, and was stoked to find this lower cut sock that still had some thickness to it (adding durability and padding). The brown doesn't show the dirt at all, and even after 2-3 days of continuous use while backpacking they didn't get crunchy or smelly.

I bought this version as an upgrade to my cheaper, and well-used original. I really like that I can set the declination separately, though worry I might lose the key in the future. The clear backing makes map work a breeze, the bezel moves smoothly and holds its position well, and the included string works well for figuring out more accurate distances on the topo. So far I give two thumbs up for this compass!

Once again I was in need of a bag liner, and decided to try my luck with this one. In the past I've always used the cotton/silk blend, or silk versions. They always ended up tearing, after a relatively short life (and a high price tag). This one seems to be constructed in such a way that I hope for greater longevity, as the material is not see-through. It has a heavier weight (much like a bed sheet) that lent a nice comfort in the woods. So far it's seen two trips and 14 days of use, and I'm hopeful it will continue to perform just as well.
