Matt Weinberg's Bio

After being transplanted from Pennsylvania to Utah as a child I was introduced to the wilds of the mountain west.

From childhood my love of the outdoors has grown through my pursuit of many outdoor activities. Snowboarding, skiing, climbing, hiking, and mountain/road biking all instilled the passion and love that I pursue outdoors.

The Nano 22 at .8oz and with a nice sized gate and deep basket makes this my go to carabiner for my alpine draws and cams. The small nose on the 22 makes them extremely versatile when needing to fit into tight chains or other snug spots. All in all they are my favorite and most used small carabiner.

Shower and more... in peace and comfort

Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Heliopolis is a burly, sturdy, thoughtful and quality item that adds an amazing amount of comfort to the car Glamping set up. From the desert to the mountains it provides the privacy necessary for bodily functions and cleanliness needs. from the waterproof TP cover to the net storage on the roof and the mesh ventilation/ drainage around the bottom seam all set the Heliopolis apart from its competitors. For easy water removal we use a squeegee to wipe the water out the mesh around the base. Using it with the Helio shower is seamless as of course they were designed to be used together. Very pleased with the overall quality, and usefulness of this as i have been with almost everything I have had or used from Nemo.

Camping Comfort and Cleanliness!
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love to get dirty, dusty, muddy, sweaty and stinky, but sharing a two man tent with my wife and dog after doing any combination of those things can get a bit malodorous. The Helio Shower is so clutch for this purpose, and to do everything from rinsing off the dogs paws to cleaning dishes, bikes, etc... If you pair this with the Heliopolis tent it works like a charm. It seems pretty tough so far and like all things Nemo it should hold up for ages with a bit care on my part.

These water cubes are great for around base camp, and collecting larger amounts of water. the 10L size is easy to carry with the handle and although the product is thin the material is relatively sturdy with care should hold up well.

The FirePit has become one of the most indispensable and favorite items in my car camping set up and the solar cover is a fantastic addition to it. The FirePit needs energy to power the fan and though the battery is very long lasting using it for days, especially if you are using it multiple times a day the battery will need to be charged . Enter the Solar Cover, not only making transport and carrying easy, but also allowing you to keep the FirePit Charged and ready to run the fan and even charge other devices like, phones, headlamps etc... In a few short hours in the sun the Solar cover replenished the power used for or fire from the night before and the first morning and by keeping the batter charging whenever possible, we have been able to maintain plenty of power for what would be endless use. If you have the FirePit and plan to use it for any sort of extended periods of time the Solar Cover is an absolutely invaluable necessity.

The Mountainsmith Trippin Fanny Pack is great. The size is perfect for what i was looking for. I can carry a small jacket, my keys, wallet, phone and a half liter or liter of water depending on what small jacket i have packed. It wears well over the shoulder and around the waist. The Cordura Fabric seems super durable and the inner sipper pocket and hang loop are nice thoughtful touches. If it holds up like the Mountainsmith stuff i have from years past i will be using this for a considerably long time. I am very happy with this purchase

I really enjoy these shoes! I have had them for just a couple days but have had a hard time taking them off. the very breathable somewhat sock like upper fits and forms well to the foot without being too restricting. The rubber wraps the toe just enough to help protect you a bit from accidental kicks that occur while running. The boa is very simple secure, efficient and easier to use. The overall grip from the continental rubber soles seems good so far and i am excited to put it to the test in the desert this spring and summer. The toe box is much more spacious than most Adidas have had in the past. It is not as wide as some other brands out there but it has plenty of room for me to spread my toes out a little bit to the sides. I have only put two short runs on them so far but overall comfort, weight and durability seem great so far.

I had to pick up a new one because i stored it wet and i had some rust build up on the flash i have had for over 5 years. I got a new one because it has been so dependable and efficient through years of use. Great easy go to water boiler!

Camping in comfort!
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We have been using our Ayer Sky for over a year and we continue to love it. Everything has held up well and performed as well or better than expected. My wife our dog and I all sleep very well in the Tepui and we are looking forward to another great year and many more.

Setup becomes easier and quicker with time and we continue to find ways to improve our packing and unpacking skills. We have had it out in the cold and the rain although we have not slept in the snow in it. I am confident it would perform well.

As with almost all tents in cold conditions it can get a bit damp with moisture inside the tent, nothing that is not to be expected in those situations and though there is some it has never been bad and i have other traditional tents that are impacted by moisture even more.

I was worried that the novelty of it might ware off, but it has not and i am sure it wont since the performance and comfort i experience in comparison to most other camping situations is fantastic. I love to sleep under the stars on a thin foam mat, but if i can be comfortable i say why not.

The Biolite Fire Pit is great. Coals and grilling or logs and chilling this thing functions very efficient. Having hot coals left over after a fire or grill session is always a pain to deal with and creates fire and or transportation dangers. the Fire Pit will quickly and efficiently burn your coals or logs down to dust and it will do it almost completely smoke free. It seems durable and well built and it should hold up to a lot of use. Overall i am very pleased with the Fire Pit and would reccomend it to anyone who wants a mostly smokeless fire pit and likes to grill on coals.

I have been looking fore a very tapered outdoor/stretch pant for years and Columbia came through finally! I have been wearing these every day since i got them. I can wear them to work and go to the climbing gym, or out to the park or on a hike with the dog and then out to dinner or drinks. I have both colors available and i wish they were available in solid black. I hope they make more colors available in the future. I also love that they are available in lengths. All in all i could not be more happy with these so far.

This board is so much fun! It is challenging and tiring and is still an absolute pleasure to ride. Stiff boots and bindings are a must and i can understand why people have set these up with hard boots in the past. This thing will make some massive carved turns and thrives on sparsely populated extra wide groomed runs. It holds and edge and carries speed as one would expect from a board that is this big, stiff, and heavy. This is not an every day board by any means, because its sizes hinders its maneuverability in tight trees and technical or bumped out situations. But if you want a very fun ultra unique piece to pull out of the quiver occasionally this board is a very fun option. The more i ride it the more i love it. Switching back to more standard boards after a few days out on this was strange as they felt very small, light and highly maneuverable. Of course all different styles of boards thrive in some situations and adding the Doughboy and its unique style and tendencies to the quiver is now a highlight of this season.

If you only want to own one snowboard that does everything very well this is a fantastic option! This board holds an edge so well. It stiff enough to charge through chunder and it is still playful and poppy. It is a confidence inspiring board and the width is great to really be able to lay into turns. The profile is great on hard pack with the camber under the bindings and when you find some pow stashes the rocker allows for easier float than on many other twins I have ridden. Great board especially if you want a one board quiver.

The zip Body is great! i have been using it for a few weeks and have really been enjoying it. I do wish it was 3/4 or boot cut instead of shorts but it still works well and is very warm for winter activities, Skiing/Snowboarding etc... The zippers are smooth and easy and i love the easy on and off with the full zip from the leg up over the top of the bum down the other leg. Great design and quality.
