Matt Penny's Bio

I moved to almost two years ago Salt Lake City with action sports as my motivation. I find myself on the trails with my bike or hiking shoes, slack lining in the park, rock climbing in little cottonwood, or shuttling the Crest. Get connected and get outside!

I've attracted a lot attention wearing this sunglasses, wether it is "I love those" or "those are ridiculous" I always look forward to wearing these. The only Reason i gave a 4 star is because I have a problem with the legs of the glasses getting stuck between the frame and the lens while these are closed, being stored. Every time I pop the legs out I experience a quick panic. Overall though, I am happy with Mansfield.

This jacket comes everywhere with me. It's my best fitting insulation piece and the Zues works well. The zippers are strong, hand pockets are in the perfect place and the jacket also has two giant pockets on the inside of the jacket, even big enough for a a 32 oz Nalgene.

I started riding the Burton Ion 8 years ago and fell in love with them then. Since then I have tried other boots such as the 32 Team II, the Nike Kazu and a few others, but no boot compares. This boot has amazing heal hold, unparalleled lacing system and provides great support. From charging the mountain , hiking back country lines to riding the park, these are my go to's.

I've just used these once, but that will be enough to write a review. These fit great and comfortable around the pad. The chamois pad looks big, almost too big at first glance But I didn't notice it getting in the way when riding. I can tell these are well made by the the quality of their stitching and attention to detail around things like the waist band.

I use these in and out the hills. When you drink as much water as I do, it's a nice change to have a little flavor and extra electrolytes. They also help me to get ready for my hot yoga sessions, I drink one tab in 16 oz about 3 hours before. Advice from my favorite yogi, and it definitely helps.

I love having these in my pocket for the on the go snack while ski touring. The Lime is my favorite flavor, but all the ones I've tried rock. The kick of caffeine is hardly noticeable to this coffee junkie. However a handful of times it has proven helpful at times when the long day will be long from over.

I've cut probably a dozen skins in my life using the old school method of shifting over, cutting and then shifting and cutting again. The time has come for this tool. I haven't used it, but I checked it out, read the instructions on how to use it and I'm confident it will do the job. I like the shape, it will make it easy to hold on to.

I'm replacing my old TLT Comforts of many years with these. I love the new metal heel raiser system and the fact that I can buy these without brakes. The safety straps are all need in the backcountry. I'm glad that Dynafit still offers this version with all their new bindings in the mix.
A great value for sure.

These are my first mountaineering boots and I am amazed at how comfortable they are straight out of the box. The toe box is roomy and can accommodate thicker socks if necessary. It does come up high but the ankle articulation keeps it somewhat flexible. The removable tongue makes the fit more comfortable as well as the sock lining at the top of the boot. I The snug fit will help keep the snow out. I am still breaking in the boots and have not worn them outside yet. I do however enjoy doing squats and push up in them! They keep your form amazing strong. I am looking forward to the winter in these boots. I wear a size 8, but found size 39 fit better than the 39.5

I had the old thermal sleeve for my camelbak, but it did not have a cap on it, so that is a great addition. No more dirt or debris on the mouthpiece. I am looking forward to winter and not having my water freeze, although I always blow the water back into the bladder, otherwise, it could be a problem. This is a great way to stay hydrated year round in all your outdoor activities.

The quick link is a great addition to the the camelbak. It is less hassle getting the bladder in and out of the pack when tanking up. The material is stronger, although I never had a leak in my first bladder. I'm not a fan of the screw cap after having used a friend's bladder with a roll top closure, which is easier to clean. But I went with the camelbak to have the thermal hose in the winter.

I haven't used this jacket much, but love it so far. The material is surprisingly supple for a 3 layer gore tex jacket. I biked in it and took for a wet pre-winter hike. I was stoked with how well this jacket breathed and kept me dry all at the same time. Patagonia nailed the balance of just enough functions yet at a very light weight. I got a small, and it was surprisingly big compared to a similar jacket I had in the past. Overall I'm very happy with this piece.

I've purchased this model of sock for at least the past 5 years. I love them. They seem to be designed now to come up about an inch higher, and this helps keep the dirt out of the funky contours of my ankles. So this improvement is appreciated.

He chewed up his first one so I we got him another. There is no piece of "webbing" that this dog (Fred) could not chew through. It was an easy decision to replace! I will say it appears Ruffwear has changed the design of the loop making it easier to get on and off. And for the record I'd get a third reason if had to. I love this collar.
