I got these for a good friend who works as a ski patrol at Snowbasin. He had the following feedback to share:

"These are a solid boot. The stock liners were fully formed to my feet by my 5th day on the slopes. The buckles are shaped just right to give you the most leverage when you're cranking your boots down. They perform well straight out of the box. I have a wide foot, so these are perfect for me, but if you think you might be somewhere in between a wide foot and a skinny foot, definitely go with the LVs instead. Overall a great ski boot that I expect to use for seasons to come."

Black Diamond delivers with the classic passive pro #4-13, which is the base for a solid trad rack. Simple design at a great price. Rounded edges make for easy placement and removal. I haven't memorized the color coordination yet but once I do I imagine it will be nice and convenient. Bonus: comes with a biner!

I got this as a gift for my brother's girlfriend. It's her new favorite beanie to wear after a day on the slopes. The merino wool/acrylic blend feels smooth and soft while keeping her ears nice and toasty. She went with the glacial blue color and loves matching it with different tops. This is a great holiday gift!

I got these as a gift for my brother's girlfriend, who is an avid yogi. She loves how high the waist is and how they are thick, but not constricting. What she loves most, however, is their versatility - you can practice yoga in them or match them with a top to wear out.

Very strong and durable compared to shovels I have used in the past, especially for the price. Fits in every pack that I bring with me and the extendable handle is about as user-friendly as it gets. I have never had to use the shovel in an emergency dig-out situation (and hopefully will never have to) but it digs a great pit and builds a nice jump! This is also really handy to keep in your vehicle for winter emergencies.

An essential tool for someone just getting into trad climbing. The tool does its job well and gets even the most stuck gear out with relative ease. It is built hardily so you will not have to worry about wailing on it if you need. The wrench is an added bonus that has come in handy quite a few times for tightening loose bolts I have come across. It fits bolts of all sizes. This will always stay clipped to my harness.

"Wow, what a tool! I'm a longtime GriGri user and the plus is quite an upgrade from the previous models. Very stoked on the anti panic function that gives extra peace of mind when less experienced friends are belaying. You have to use this thing yourself to feel how smooth the plus model feed the rope. I never thought lead belaying with a GriGri could feel the same as an ATC. Overall this device is worth the price and is really fun to use. I feel that this may be the new standard in safety in a belay device and I plan to keep one on my rack."

These are an excellent fit. This is my first pair of La Sportivas that weren't climbing shoes and overall I'm very satisfied. There is a nice heel cup and wonderful heel support that is great when running downhill. They do a good job keeping out the elements but are still fairly breathable. I use these both running in the snow and for wearing casually around town. They're lightweight, comfortable, and have a great grip.

I got these as a gift for my brother and he had the following feedback to share:
"Scarpa did well with the Gore-tex on these guys. They are weather proof through the mud and the snow and during the hot days they are still breathable enough that it takes a very long time before my feet start to sweat. I used them in hiking multi-day sections of the Tahoe Rim Trail and they had amazing support for carrying a heavier pack. I have a slightly wider foot and there is plenty of room in the toe box to accommodate that. The flex is perfect too - it didn't take much to get them broken in. I'm hoping they hold up a long time; they don't show any signs of wear yet. I always love Scarpa's color schemes and these somewhat match my climbing shoes (since that is important ;) .

I got these socks for my mom. She was looking for some medium weight hiking socks to use for longer treks - especially in the fall, winter, and spring (she prefers lighter weight socks for summer hikes). They've kept her feet super comfortable and dry in all kinds of conditions. SmartWool does it all!

I got these socks for my mom, who was looking for lightweight, above-the-ankle hiking socks for summer treks. They keep your feet dry and the height is perfect for warmer weather hiking. She loves the mountain purple color. You can never go wrong with SmartWool!

My brother's girlfriend just learned how to snowboard last year and needed a helmet. My brother and I have both worn Bern helmets for years and they've saved our heads countless times between the two of us. She's gotten a chance to try it out and was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable the thin shell fits about her head. She also likes that the winter liner can be removed so the helmet can be worn for biking in the summer... two helmets for the price of one! The peace of mind that comes with wearing a good helmet is well worth it.

My step dad has been sport climbing for over 30 years and has never owned a helmet. He taught my mom how to climb (they are both in their late 50s, which I think is pretty cool) and she is preparing to do her first multi-pitch climbs. In the interest of being more safety conscious he decided it was time to get a helmet to set a good example for her. I helped him pick this helmet because Petzl is always dependable for good quality climbing gear. He said that this helmet is comfortable and easy to adjust.

This is a great chalk bag for a cheap price. The best feature is the powderseal closure - it will absolutely keep chalk inside the bag without worrying about it leaking into the rest of your gear bag. The exterior color is nice and the material is sturdy. Most importantly, it's very easy to open and close, allowing you to dip your hand in without having to fumble around with it. If you're new to climbing and are in need of a chalk bag, this one's for you!

I bought this for my step-dad, who is quite active for an "old guy!" He has been loyal to the Under Armour brand for many years because it is good quality for a fair price. He is partial to the mock turtle style base layer for winter sports including skiing, snowshoeing, and even climbing, biking, and hiking (weather permitting). He already owns a number of Under Armour mock turtles in a variety of weights and colors. However, the mock turtle style is increasingly difficult to find as many base layers now have the 1/4 zipper. So this fits the bill perfectly for him!

I got this as a gift for a friend and she was thrilled. Here are her initial impressions:

This jacket is perfect for fall and winter weather. It is so soft and comfortable. It keeps me warm while hiking but is light enough that I can wear it on my morning jogs. It looks nice and presentable for going out and socializing. I got the "Drifter Grey" color and it matches with most everything I wear. It also looks and feels super nice layered under my black Patagonia puffy jacket. Overall it's a high quality jacket and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I got these shoes for my brother who is relatively new to climbing and needed a second pair of shoes while his first pair is being re-soled. He wanted to give a pair with a hook-and-loop closure style a try since his other pair are lace-ups. He was able to try them out recently right out of the box at the granite slabs of Donner Summit, before winter sets in. He enjoyed the ease with which he could put them on, and mentioned that he preferred the hook and loop closure to lace-ups because they were easier to adjust. Mostly he was stoked about how "grippy" they felt on the thin granite footholds. He is looking forward to his next opportunity to get out and use them!

These are my new favorite shoes. The styling makes them nice enough to wear as dress shoes for more formal occasions, but the comfort allows me to wear them out and about all day long without my feet feeling tired. The cushy footbed is something I didn't know I needed until trying them on - great arch support! They do run a little bit large. I wear 11.5 in nearly every shoe or boot I own, but I found sizing down a half size worked well for me. Looking forward to wearing these more!
