Marc Sholder's Bio

Took 10 years from my first visit to CO to be able to call myself a resident. Found myself and learned my life lessons in the wilds of central PA. Now my wife and I are raising 2 kids that already are very in tune with the wealth of open space at our toes in the West!

Solidly built, feature-rich, and fits in some of the smallest overhead bins. Bought it in red so it’s easy to pick out on the luggage carousel or plane-side. I haven’t had occasion to use the built in straps very often but they did come in super useful on our last family vacation. We have a big clan and our last week long trip required plenty of gear. I threw this bag on my back and rolled two bags behind me with the fam in tow! I also love that the bag has straps to cinch and compress if it’s not packed totally full.

We bought this bag for a recent family vacation because we own a 45L Osprey carry-on and love it. We’ve got a pretty large clan and we love to travel. this bag will serve its purpose for many years due to its rock solid construction. We liked it in red so it’s easy to spot on the luggage carousel.

Great jackets for the twins to wear as we welcome some cooler Colorado temps. The sleeves seem to have some extra length so we usually roll them up. The extra length has actually been pretty convenient for keeping toddlers hands warm on cool morning or evening runs while they bounce in the jogging stroller.

I love this little stove. I’ve only had it month but found incredibly handy and uplifting to have hot meals on my last few excursions without all the weight I used to carry for cooking. It boils water super quickly and handled some gnarly wind and snow without much of a wind block.

I love how cool this shirt keeps me on hot days in the sun. The fit is a bit of a slim fit but looks good on my slimmer build. It can get pretty wrinkled and misshappen so I run and iron across every few times I wear it to keep the collar corners for sticking straight up.

There is a lot I like about this trail runner. Very light, keeps my feet cool, quite stylish. The down-side from my perspective is around the padding through the sole. I am 6'7", 215 lbs and I feel like the force of my strides wore out the cushioning in the soles much more quickly than other running shoes I've owned. These are not daily runners for me as they seem to need a couple days to recover after a long run compresses the rubber in the soles. I am pretty loyal to Nike and Brooks when it comes to running shoes that perform well for me. I don't think this shoe is going to support the miles that other shoes do for me.

I am a frequent traveler for work and leisure. This bag rolls through an airport at least a half dozen times a month. I love the fact that this bag is "expandable." The stiff but not solid sides let this bag operate a bit like a duffle bag when trying to squeeze it into an overhead bin. I have had no trouble carry this onto any flights in the 3 months I've owned it. I haven't used the backpack straps yet but I'm sure they will come in handy at some point in my travels. Lots of extra compartments if you like to keep things organized. The straps inside the bag are great for keeping things secured in place if you have to open the bag to remove toiletries, snacks, or electronics at security.

I used this jacket extensively in the 3 seasons that i've owned it. Great in a light rain and very wind resistant. Great outer layer in Northern Colorado climate. Patagonia fits me well tall, long arms, athletic build. I just wish they made pants/bottoms that fit me as well as the tops/jackets.

the kids used them in yellowstone and a few other camping trips and slept warm and comfortably. I started using one of these with my air mattress for some added insulation in extremely cold winter camping conditions. Probably not adequate alone for comfortable adult sleep but they're perfect for the kids in warmer weather.

with 2 children (ages 5 and 7) that are most at home in the out of doors, we go through our fair share of scrapes, bumps, bruises, and bloody noses (my son had an altitude induced gusher in Grand Teton). This first aid kit is always in my daypack and adequately equipped to deal with the minor first aid situations we encounter.
