From other items I have bought that are the NF brand I have always had to deal with it being slightly too big. However this fleece is sized down a bit I guess and it fits me very well.

While the material seems thinner then other fleece pullovers I own, and it sheds a bit before the first wash, it is still very warm and soft to me.

Happy I bought this fleece.

I loved this fleece from Patagonia. I was very warm and cozy and the fleece, and it layers really well. It does shed a bit at first too.

However, Patagonia does not make small enough sizes for adults! Even an XS is HUGE on me. I had to send the women's XS size back only to reorder a girls L.

If your not on the bigger and taller spectrum of sizing, this will be way too big on you if your under 5'3" or even 5'4" and looking for an XS.

This was a really beautiful jacket (I got it in the mineshaft color)that did seem pretty warm if accompanied by a warmer layer underneath. I had to return it for the size however. Even in an XS the shoulders were a bit boxy for me as I'm obnoxiously petite being under 5'2". If this is not you, then you should fit just fine.
The length seemed rather long to me as it covered my rear almost completely. The sleeve hand cuff fabric and the neck fleece was a really nice touch too. I wish I could have kept this jacket, but the thermoball fit slightly better albeit not by much at all, and came with a hood.

Didn't work for me, but still a really nice jacket.

I read many reviews claiming that this jacket keeps them warm and dry. As for claiming to be warm, I think it requires a warm sweater layer underneath to stay warm, as I don't put off heat at all. I live in Monterey area, so it rains a lot and quite heavily sometimes so I had the chance to test it's waterproof capabilities first hand during a heavy raining spell.

Yes, the jacket can in fact take ALOT of rain. However, it only really repels rain for where ever it covers so you are bound to still get wet without an umbrella. Under the jacket I did stay dry, but the water just sits on top of the material though. You have to shake off the excess water or run a towel over it to get rid of the water.

For fit however, with everything from NorthFace, I love the product, but if you are under 5'2 this will still be too long in the sleeves and body.

This jacket is perfect for Monterey Bay weather year round in terms of warmth and water resistance (along with an umbrella of course). I even got caught in the rather huge downpour and it held up against the rain pretty well. I had to get out of the rain rather quickly as it was really coming down, but I was still dry under the jacket even though it was really soaked on the outside.

I think the size is in fact 'true to size' for average height humans, but for me it is just a little bit too big in the body length and sleeve length as I am obnoxiously short and petite. So if needing a proper fit is something you require this jacket will do, but will still be a tad too big.

TLDR: great jacket, NorthFace please make an XXS for jackets
