Utah! Colorado!

Lisa Edlund's Bio

I can't get enough of time spent outdoors. Salt Lake City is the perfect place for this and thankfully this is where my parents raised me, and I currently live. I love getting out in the Wasatch, skiing, hiking, climbing, or just sitting by a mountain stream. Most of the time, I have one or all three of my kids joining me. I love camping, and backpacking all over the Western US but prefer staying in Utah, either the Uinta Mountains, or Southern Utah Redrock. I am an avid backcountry and alpine skier. I taught skiing at a local mountain for 13 years before moving to a desk job here at Backcountry.com

Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag worked fantastic on my recent camping road trip. It had ample room for all my clothing for hiking, camping, biking and tourist activities. There is a nice mesh pocket in the lid that kept smaller things easy to find. I love the storage feature. You turn the bag inside out to fit nicely in the integrated storage pouch. This pouch also double nicely as a place for my small laundry pieces. The shoulder straps are nicely padded. One improvement would be having those easier to remove when not in use but not a big deal overall.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this line for my son three times now, he currently has it on all his reels except his reel with sinking line and he told me it is great. If you are looking for floating line for trout fishing this is it. It floats well and the double taper design saves you a couple bucks because when one side starts to wear out you can flip it around and you have a fresh taper.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This was my sons first reel. I bought one for him 2 years ago, and he loves it so much that when I ordered him a bunch more fishing stuff recently he asked for another one in a larger size. He says it is relatively lightweight but also feels very durable and solid. He says it is by far his favorite reel in his fishing arsenal

This reel is great. My son uses it for his 6'9 3wt and his 10ft 4wt he says he loves the way it clicks and how lightweight it is. He also says it is nice to have a reel that is compatible with 4 out of his 5 rods excluding his 7wt

I bought this rod in a 6'9 3wt for my son along with some larger rods but he wanted this for "smaller water" he loves it and says the medium action and fiberglass gives it a great old school feel, it is perfect for small streams with tight bushes or trees, and he would highly recommend it to anyone looking to pick up a rod for small to medium sized streams.
The only thing he said that is even close to bad is he wishes he had got it in a 2 wt, but this is his go to rod for smaller streams.

Overall a great addition to any camp kit. It charged fast and stayed lit all night. I didn't find it to be as bright as some similar lights I have tested. I also don't think it would float(didnt try) and it was a bit heavier(but probably more durable) than others as well.

I have used this on one trip in the high alpine with light snow. It is pretty cozy for two people and we did have some condensation which was not a big problem. It is super light and I found it easy enough for even one person to set up. Considering the weight this is a great option. I am not sure that this would be my go to for survival in serious storms. overall a good 4 season tent for backcountry touring and backpacking.

I really like the fit on these shorts. The waistline is cut a lot lower than many others and the fabric is stretchy and soft with not a ton of compression which seems hard to find. The padding is medium perfect. I love the merino fabric, these are my new favorites and go well under all my shorts or even a skirt.

I really like these pants and just got my second pair. They are a nice, stretchy and lightweight fabric. Inside the waist is a really soft brushed fleece material which adds even more comfort. The drawstring waist means you don't need to pack a belt. They do well to shed a light rain and are my go to spring hiking and camping pants.
