I own a black pair and a khaki pair as my main skiing and boarding pants. Very comfortable (relaxed fit), warm as a single shell layer and toasty on the lift in single digits with windchill with the liner in. Good venting on warmer days. Tons of pockets to stash snacks and other stuff. Velcro and tie cord combo keep them up well. Minor downsides are the weight and the thigh pocket liner needs to be a bit more rugged (easily torn by keys or other objects). Not really a 3in1 because I can't imagine using the fleece liner on its own.

out of all the gear I've bought at backcountry, these softshell pants are the best. Lassen, Shasta, Rainier, Ecuador volcanoes, Tahoe winter hikes/snowshoeing - I never wear anything else. Great fit, awesomely comfortable, warm on ascents, wicks well on descents, useful thigh pocket, useful gaiter clip for hiking/snowshoeing on hardpack - just a perfect softshell mountaineering pant. Every duffel packed for a trip deserves a pair of these.

I get very cold fingers, especially the tip of my middle finger, but not with these on. I bought them for a Rainier climb and they kept my fingers warm in single digits. Dexterity isn't great, but my fingers quickly warmed up again when I put them back on. They are always in my pack for any solo winter day trips just in case it turns into an overnight bivvy.

lighter, thinner and better wicking than my smartwool baselayers so I use this more in spring/summer on mountains. Good venting with the zipper undone. It gets the job done and is really comfortable.

it comes a distant second to my Arcteryx Atom LT as a midweight puffy. I use this for spring/fall camping and hiking, but always go to the Atom LT for winter activities or mountaineering trips. The Atom LT is just warmer and lighter (and cost less on sale).

I primarily use this for winter hiking, snowshoeing and year-round mountaineering as a warm mid-layer between an athletic fit baselayer and OR ferrosi windshirt. The hood fits nicely under a climbing helmet. The offset zipper is a bit tight on my neck when fully zipped up and the zipper pull is tiny but I just girth-hitched a stretchy, color-coded hair tie to it (stolen from my daughter) and it's now really easy to use with gloves on. I don't own an R1 to compare this to, but with the $60+ price difference I'm not likely to.

awesome sock for all winter activity - it's my 'go to' sock for skiing/boarding, snowshoeing, winter hiking and mountaineering. I like a snug fit in the heel so the M fits my size 10 foot really well. Warm, great shin padding and never fall down. I never wear anything else now.
