Some people say the arms are really long, but in my case they aren't long enough. I have a relatively high ape-index (not atypical for rock climbers mind you) and I find them short. Compared with Montane Echo and Black Diamond BDV, they are by far the shortest. They also are on the narrow side, which can be a problem with a layer under.

The fact that the outer shell (not a layer) doesn't have closure tabs or tight wide closures that hug your wrist (like TNF Apex for example), is a big miss in my opinion. Not only it makes the feel less "sure", but also allows for excessive jacket arm travel.

Overall, I'd still recommend it, given how light it is, the quality of the materials and zippers used, but in my case it's simply too short in the arms, so back it goes.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Echo is a relatively light softshell with good technical features like 2-way zipper, easily accessible pockets (can reach in with a harness), a large adjustable hood, very niche velcro cuff closure tabs combined with some stretch, so that you can set them once and never touch them again.

In person, I really like the way the jacket looks in color Blue (with orange side zippers).

I'm not 100% sure that the material will hold up. I ordered another one in color Red and it looked as if someone chewed on it (had to send it back because of that which cost me). But if Red looked rather chewed after someone else tried it on... the Blue may too. Or maybe not.

Overall, like it

Overall a well designed pant. But if you got lots of muscles in upper leg and gluts and not much fat (read size 32, 5'11, 170lb) you may have a funny effect of them folding up and forming a huge crease when you half-lift your leg.

So, unfortunately, this has to go back

Overall a light puffy with a crisp feel to it. The hood isn't fully adjustable (which AFAIK means 3 points of adjustment). This wasn't a big problem for me but it would for someone with a shorter neck because the hood will ride.

I met a strong opposition around me as far as it's appearance goes: the shoulders are huge, bulging and stick up, making me look like (an american) football player.
