5 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 2"
Weight: 170 lbs
Size Purchased: Large

This coat is perfect for fall to winter transition in Chicago - I needed something a little warmer than my unlined trench, but not as heavy as my full length down coat. Also needed to cover my bum when walking to yoga class, and not look so sporty that I couldn't wear it with dressier clothes to work. This is IT. I think with a fleece underneath, I can wear this all winter! Water just beads up and rolls off, and the hood stays up, unlike a lot of hoods, which are hard to keep up without cinching around your neck. Bottom line - I'm in love with this coat!

Worth the extra cost
5 5

This may be the most expensive dog pack out there, but I didn't want to take any chances on having it fall apart, or having it rub or wear wrong on my dog! I spent more on my dog's pack than my own!
She loves it, and had no issues wearing it with a week's worth of food. You do have to be pretty careful to make sure the load is even, and I still had to adjust it every once in a while, but it works like a champ! The added water bladders were great, too! I loved that I could unclip the pack itself and doubled as a bear bag to hang the dog food!

This has held up to rough wear and tear very well. I totally trust this brand for all future outdoor dog purchases.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had this bag for about 6 months now and had the chance to use it in a range of situations. So far, it's a great bag and I'm so glad I spent the money to lighten my backpacking load. I used it on a 5 night trip in the Rockies in August and it was great despite the cold nights. This past weekend, it got down to 28 degrees, and I was completely toasty in this bag. It's got a nice water repellent shell, but if it's up against a tent wall long enough, condensation will penetrate the shell. No real issues getting this bag wet, though. Just all around a great investment for my backpacking gear.

Great hiking shoes!
5 5

I got these on SAC for a good price and my old Merrill Ventilators weren't cutting it anymore for hikes over a couple of miles.
These boots need no break-in time at all - they have just enough ankle support, but not stiff like a boot. I crossed a few streams in them and when my SmartWool socks got wet (the water was over the top of the boot) they dried out very quickly. I was surprised, I thought I would have squishy feet all day.

The only minus so far is the shoestrings - they are a very small cord, so they loosen up pretty easily unless you double knot them.
