I bought this jacket as a shell for my layer system. My primary outdoor activity is climbing. I am trying to prepare for big mountain climbs where the temperatures can really drop. I am 6'1 and 160 lbs with a 42" chest and 31" waist. My down jacket is a Mont Bell Permafrost, size large. I went into the SLC Backcountry store to test the fit of the Maximus over the Mont Bell. The Large Maximus compressed the Down more than I thought it should. The XL Maximus fits perfectly over the My Down jacket allowing for full range of motion without over compressing the Down loft in the Mont Bell. It is too large for me if I am not layering but layering is the purpose for this jacket in my gear bag. There are lighter shells for climbing but I have been assured by veteran big big mountain climbers that the Maximus is more durable than the lighter options.

I have had a pair of these glasses for several years. My eyes are very sensitive to light. I use these on the water, in the mountains, on bike (motorized and pedal) and anytime I am outside. They are amazing. Easily the best glasses I have ever owned. They are equal to the two pairs of Julbo micropores (glass lenses) I also own. I was worried about the lens durability of the spectrons but they have been great. They are much lighter than the micropores. I find myself wearing these more than the micropores. I will definitely buy another pair when these are done.
