Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs large
I like them. I utilized the pants for a 30 mile hike in weather that varied from 83F on day one, heavy rain on day two, and finally 26F with snow by day three, that sucked. We ended up just hiking out and leaving the third day as our gear was soaked from the second day even though it was under our rain gear. The pants were not an issue, although my rain jacket of the same brand was rendered useless from the heavy rain. The pants allowed for adequate ventilation on the first day as well as protection against the wind and cold by the third day. They were surprisingly warm.
I am a little unhappy with the fact that the sipper handle dislodged on one of the pant legs after only being used a few times. Sipper still works. Other than that they did stain slightly with minimal use and the sizing was an issue. I ended up trying on three pairs before I found a fit. The sizing charts did not help. On the plus side, Backcountry shipped all three for free and allowed free returns until I found the correct size, so fantastic job there. Pay attention to the length variation with change in size up or down. Tried on an X-large first, but could have used that pair as a sleeping bag.
Overall they are probably worth the money at a discount but maybe not full price?
