Size Purchased: S

I'd say that the perfect body plan for these pants would be: very narrow hips/butt and very slender legs.
I normally wear a 26(0)/27(2) in pants for reference. The size difference between the XS and S is shocking. I ordered the S/Reg, and the pants were falling off of me, gaping at the waist, with a reasonable thigh area. I returned them for the XS/Reg, and the XS/Reg crotch/inseam was so tight that it was uncomfortable to sit or bend over, and the pants still gaped at the waist by a few inches, and the thighs were also very tight. ,
These pants also have a HUGE bell-bottom leg, and the sizing of the bell-bottom leg stayed consistent across the S and XS, so on the XS the bell-bottom legs looked ridiculous. I will say that the pants were very warm, and the seams/zippers felt sturdy and well-made, so they'd probably be great for skiing if you can get them to fit.

Fit: True to size

Size Purchased: 4/reg

I bought these pants in two colors, both size 4/reg. I wore them on a 5-day trip to the Grant Tetons; we were in heavy snow the entire trip. These pants fit me somewhat loosely, but I wanted to be able to put a base layer on underneath, so that's fine with me. If you have curves/hips/thighs, these pants are fantastic, I've found that Marmot does a great job designing for women's bodies, especially with pants. If you have a straighter build, these will probably be too loose/baggy on you in the hip and thigh area.

Now for how these pants did on my trip: frankly, they were wonderful. They didn't smell at all, even after multiple days of use. The overall construction of the pant is impressive; seams are sturdy, the fabric resists chafing/ripping, and the fabric is breathable (I never overheated). That being said, please note that these pants are NOT waterproof. I brought a pair of rain pants with me, and you WILL need a waterproof shell if you are trudging through snow or rain that's heavier than a light mist. However, they do dry very quickly. Overall, fantastic pant. 4/5 stars because although they're tagged "water-resistant", I found that anything more than a light mist went right through the pants.

I bought two of these shirts about 9.5 months ago in two colors, nickel black/gingham (XS) and merlot/captain gingham (S). I've worn them consistently since then. Unfortunately, after 6 months both shirts began to pill pretty terribly, and at 8 months some of the seams started unraveling, and both shirts began falling apart. I only washed them on delicate cycles with cold water, and hung them to dry. I did not climb in them, I used them as casual shirts for work. For such an expensive shirt, I really expected more, and now I can't wear either of them due to busted seams around the cuffs, sleeves, and sides, and terrible fabric covered in pills. For the record, both of the shirts are very loose on me, so stretching/pulling fabric should not be an issue that would cause seams to unravel. I too loved these shirts at first, but now I cannot recommend them to anyone.

This shirt is incredibly lightweight, and the elderberry purple color is beautiful. I am 5'5" and about 120 lbs, and the XS fit me like a glove. I wanted a next-to-skin fit; if you don't, size up. I used it as a base layer underneath my jackets and other layers for a 5-day trip in heavy snow in June at the Grand Tetons National Park. It dries very quickly, and did a great job keeping sweat off of me. Despite the statement in the product details, it did not protect well against odors (if you're going on a long backpacking trip, just an FYI). Its UV protection is minimal, so I'd use it only as a base layer if the sun's out. Overall - comfortable, no chafing, lightweight, wicking.

These are incredibly well-made. The fabric is tough, has just the right amount of give, and has a great range of motion. I'd highly-recommend these to anyone, but not if you have muscular legs. They're not as roomy in the upper thigh area as I'd need, and unfortunately the light stone-gray color makes this *ahem* awkwardly obvious. Would definitely try another cut in Arc-teryx pants.

Incredibly soft, well-constructed. Superior quality. It fits well around the shoulders, and then falls loosely away from there. So it's fitted around the shoulders and arms, but gives lots of room for movement and climbing.

This is a beautiful shirt. I got the dark blue color. The fabric is incredibly light, soft, and wicking. However, I'd describe the cut as awkward. I'm 5'5" and 119 lbs, and I ordered the XS. The arms were about 2 inches too long, while the stomach area was quite short, and very roomy. It sort of floated away from my midsection, but more than you'd want - not in a camouflaging way. I'm returning it to hopefully get something that fits me better. Also, it has no SPF/UPF protection. Be aware hikers!
