Holes In Inner Lining After Two Days
2 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these specifically for a backpacking trip to Havasupai Falls. I did not wear them to hike in, but did wear them at the campsite upon arrival and for hikes within the canyon during our 4 day stay. I loved almost everything about them except for one major downfall. They had holes in the inner lining on the second day! This caused sand and small rocks to get stuck under the lining, and was extremely uncomfortable to walk around in, not to mention quite a task to get them out. They did not easily shake out. I had to take them off and work at it, only to get more in almost immediately. The only other con was that they didn't have very good traction for slippery terrain. I did manage to not fall but had to be extra cautious due to this.

As for the things I loved, they were very lightweight (great for backpacking), had great arch support, and thick soft heel straps that kept me from getting any blisters even with hiking. I liked that they were open toed and easy to adjust the tightness with a bungee strap (I didn't want Velcro).

I would only recommend them if you will not be using them in sandy areas. I suspect the sand is what caused the holes to form so quickly, but I think with normal use the lining would still eventually wear in high friction spots. Overall I am disappointed because I expect better quality from Keen.

One last note, I have several pictures but I can only add one.
