Kyle's Bio

Hi my name is Kyle Brady and I’m a snowboarder. I have been struggling with this addiction since before I could drive. I have moved, quit jobs, and started a terrain park as well as a contest series in the name of snowboarding. Basically, my whole life has revolved around snowboarding since I could drive. After getting sick and tired of flat land activities and compost pile ski hills in Michigan, I relocated to Steamboat. I was in search of that classic western experience and POWDER! Well, I found it. Since then I have relocated to the beautiful Wasatch Front. I found a home at Snowbird and Backcountry.com and have decided this is the life for me. Living in Utah for over 5 years has opened so many doors to other activities. I have expanded snowboarding into the backcountry and yes I do split my own boards. I put over 100 day on my splitboard alone this season. I have fallen in love with climbing and canyoneering here in recent years. That and backpacking pretty much control the summer and keep me occupied till the flakes start falling.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I can honestly say I was a little skeptical of the whole convenience thing but man was I wrong. I was sent a Prototype of these a few years ago and really only used them for touring at first but then the real genius of the connects showed itself. I now take 2 boards to the resort. It’s been a blast being able to switch back and forth faster than you can even start to take a disc binding off and if you feel like touring, they are a fully functional splitboard binding. Just purchase the split kit that is sold separately and you are flying up a mountain in no time. If you dabble in everything or just want 1 binding for your split, powder and everyday stick, look no further. They come in 3 models but all enjoy the same system the main difference is going to be flex.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Dad is getting old and having issues with cold toes while working or playing outside in cold temps. I bought these after talking to a customer that like them. He loves them. He says it's simple to use and it doesn't take long to get used to the heating elements in the sock. The battery folds up into the sock well and is easy to control.

Bought this for my cousin. He's not a "helmet guy" but this one seemed to catch his eye. keep your head safe no dollar amount is worth ending up injured or worse. Proper sizing is key with any helmet. I made him try them on one day to find the right size before buying.

If you need some basic mountaineering or glacial crampons, look no further. At the price we have them currently listed at, you can't go wrong. You can use these for years with little wear. They are not the lightest but who cares, they are a lot less money and it's only a few ounces.

All time favorite piece

Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 165 lbs
Size Purchased: medium

I lost this jacket, tried to go without it, I failed. I just bought my second. It's that good. Warm, great fitting, light and compressible! Can you ask for anything else. I have my beacon on under the jacket in the pic. It's a trim fit but it's done right.

Bought this as a gift. I tried it on and looked it over before wrapping it. I would need a medium but it seem to run true to size. I'm a medium in almost everything. The pic is of the large. The receiver of the gift loves's it and was really stoked on the gift!

This is hands down the greatest advancement in splitboarding over the last few years. Bold statement, I know. Imagine all the advantages of a hard boot for the up and out but the soft boot for the way down. I literally have had the flex lock just sitting in my bin for half of last season. I put them on this year and immediately felt like a dumbass. Skating, skinning, skiing, side stepping, slope testing and about anything else that starts with an s feel immediately more stable. You will fly on long approaches or exits.

They come standard with new pairs

They are amazing, hands down the best on the market. Karakoram fixed the durability issues with the new model and created and easier riser to use in the process. I used almost every proto type during the process of changing the risers and the version that went to production is well worth the effort of going through a testing process. You will be pleased.

The next part of the risers that is new is the heal lock for ski mode. SO MUCH BETTER! Before I would pop out of the lock when I would heavily flex the ski but not anymore! The heal lock is solid now. You can stomp, smash and ski!

I’ve rode split binding models from almost every major brand and the Prime is my personal set up. The board control is the best hands down. Without going into the ride to in-depth, I’d like to cover some of the new upgrades that make this year’s editions that much better.

Heal Lock in Ride Mode
This subtle difference is huge! I love how it pulls the binding down. It helps you not have to clean off as much snow or ice and it creates a tighter lock to the board. This is also part of constant testing by Karakoram. Science at work.
