Kyle Smyth's Bio

Grew up in California and traded in the great Pacific for the mountains in 2010 and getting more and more stoked by the day!
The "Utah Tourism" ads had it all right... you really need a proper vehicle and a heap of gear for EVERY season if you live here full time. Just one of the many reasons joining the Herd was a no- brainer!

This has to been my 5th 32oz Nalgene over the years and it is exactly what I have come to expect from Nalgene.... awesome!
Two great features of this bottle are the fact that your 'goat sticker' won't peel off as easy on this one . and the best of all, it comes in glow in the dark!
Love the glow in the dark for those nights in the tent or car camping when you can seem to find where your bottle walked off to. Thank you BC!

I have been fishing with these in fall/winter/spring for over 2 years now and I must say, they are by far my favorite cold weather accessory. They are still going strong aside from a couple small holes & snags from hooks or bushwacking on the way to the secret spot on the river.

These are will worth the investment and they are proving to be more durable than i imagined. They have not piled up and the elastic has remained in tact. Can't go wrong with these to keep you out on the river longer and to make that long sunrise walk to our favorite section of river that much more enjoyable. Thank you Simms!

Fit: True to size

Got these for our lil dude once he could finally fit in a size 4 ( I think he was about 1 1/2). We got the camo ones and he was soo stoked to wear them. At first I was concerned that they may be a bit too heavy as he had not been walking for too long, He didn't seem to mind and loves wearing them, He is a Vans convert just like Mommy & Daddy and we have since added 2 more pairs into his rotation.

These had been on the 'nice to have' list for the garage shop since I first saw our mechanics in our bike shop using them. I finally pulled the trigger and am happy I have, as I find myself using them for odd tasks almost every time i am in the garage these days. Really dig the magnets on the ends of these as they help prevent dropping them on your toe or hitting the deck and damaging their tips.
Disclaimer: these are not for picking the backyard bbq out of your chompers, not approved by your dentist!

We all have a screw loose or two and are nuts to not try to contain them all on this proper lil mat. Like most things found in the home shop or tools that are blue; there are cheaper or makeshift options out there, but this one will make your life easier and is a worthy upgrade to your workbench.

As with any project, having the proper tools gives you the confidence to tackle the project, this tool will keep your ducks in a row.

I have tried several other options out there to carry your pre-rigged setups and this one takes the cake so far!
Others that I have tried have been far too bulky proprietary fly boxes or are not too protected and the flies end up getting tangled in other items buried in the fishing pack .

Stand out feature of this one is how simple and effective it is, just add this onto your favorite tippet leash (Rising is the go to for me) and your change up rig is ready right in front of you and your flies are protected until then.
Another great product from Loon,

To take this setup to the next level, I recommend using tippet rings on the end of your leader and you can really change up your rig quick with one simple knot.

We are about to order our 3rd one of these hats as this is the only ball cap that our son has actually been excited to wear and keep on!
We had tried several hats when he was younger ,but nothing worked. This hat changed it all, with the fun patterns, our son was excited to have the hat around and with the classic Patagonia baggies material as well as the thoughtful 7 panels and sweatband he wore the hat like it wasn't even on.

I have two 'issues' with this hat;
1) When in stock, there are too many awesome patterns to settle on just one.
2) This style hat doesn't come in adult sizes, I am jealous!

Highly recommend this hat for the little human in your life, their noggin deserves it!.

Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 175 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I have looked far and wide for a hooded vest for all too long, there are plenty of awesome hooded vest options for women and I was soo excited to finally see a non-technical hooded vest for men. My first concern prior to buying this was the length, I have bought and returned likely every other Carhartt vest due to them being cut too short for me ( I don't have a rodeo belt buckle to show off, so wanted a vest a little longer). I was willing to give one last vest a change and had my fingers crossed that it would randomly be cut longer than the rest. I was in luck. This vest is cut a little longer, compared to other Carhartt vests.

These were the first pliers that I bought from Rising and they were the only ones i needed for the longest time. The first thing that really sold me was the tip that is perfect for splitting your split shot; I was getting soo annoyed with cutting off tippet to get the split shot off or slamming it through the guides at the end of the day. With these lil' beauties, you no longer have to bother with the hassle of the split shot removal.

The size of these are great and the 'nippers' in the back do a great job for really being an all in one tool.

As I find my self using split shot less and less as well as getting more an more minimal, I have switched over to the Rising Ultralights as I find them easier to crimp smaller barbs.

Another bitchin' product from Rising, thanks fellas!

First off, if you are getting into tying flies and don't know the name Kelly Galloup, go watch some of his videos, dude is a wizard behind the vise!
In his older videos he has a pretty haggard looking dubbing tool that his buddy made for him, this Rising tool is a proper replica and works awesome! I have been using mine since the moment these went to production and there are several tools that never see use anymore now that I have this one! The weight is great for dubbing loops and i really like the length as it is typically long enough to rest on the pedestal of my vise and not come untwisted like some shorter dubbing tools will.

Another killer product from Rising and an awesome co-lab with one of the best.

The only thing worse than having to buy tubes in 2018 is buying tubes that aren't 'Q' tubes, just don't do it! With soo many road tires going bigger and bigger and grinding gravel on eveyone's mind, it is time to make sure your old spare is up to the task of keeping you out riding and not just a band-aid to get you home.

When you can't ride tubeless, you might as well run a 'Q' tube!

Fit: Runs large

We originally bought these as a standard baselayer to go under our lil guys snow suit, but he loves romping around in these soo much that they are his go to PJs lately. They are durable and super comfy inside and out. My son is 2 and this is about the only snap one piece that he has, but considering how this material tends to ride up, we are very thankful that it is a snap top. Another fine product from Patagonia and love the grey color and fun font.

Sizing seems a little big like most of the Patagonia items we have, great thing is you get to use them longer if you dont size down. Well played Patagonia!

PSA: If you own & use a hydration bladder, you must buy one of these!
If your riding, hiking buddy uses a hydration bladder and doesn't own one of these, buy them one as well!

The long 'snake' for the tube reminds me of a drain snake and is a little interesting to use at first as it will bind up and snap at times, but be patient and it will all be worth it.

Since having a child this has also turned into my go to bottle brush too as it is far more durable than the cheap ones at the grocery store.

Get rid of the slimmy inside of your bladder and that darkness in the hose by using this kit often.

I have had several 32oz Nalgenes over the years and love them, but this lil gem is what comes with me on all backpacking trips instead now. I find myself usually always taking along a hydration bladder, so this is the perfect 'cup' for cocktails, coffee, or mixing up a hydration mix to drink while on the trail. This size nestles perfect inside a koozie (as seen below) and it also is the perfect size to fit inside my SnowPeak Ti 350 mug.

I have had to ad another one into the mix since having a child so we have a secure place to store some extra almond milk when we are on the go hiking or biking. Buy multiple, you wont regret it!

I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to use this for at first, but it seemed useful enough that I picked one up when I got my Nomad 7. Who knew I would use this lil guy so much. I often plug it into my Flip 10/20 as a light for camp dinner or tent card games or reading. It also has been perfect for plugging into my USB charger in the car for a proper map light.

So far it seems pretty durable and packs down super small and flat, love that i can just plug it into any USB outlet and have a proper light source. Well worth the extra coin and little bit of weight to add this to the kit. Much less bulky than backpacking with a small lantern for around camp; being LED it really doesn't suck the battery down too much either.

I have a few Flip 10s and love them, but I wanted something a little more for overnight backpacking or bikepacking trips so I could rely on a quick charge if I ran out. Now that I have the 20, I find myself rarely bringing my Nomad solar panel as typically I found myself only needing to charge my phone once or twice on a couple day trip if i was diligent about airplane mode and not taking all the photogs. This is a great lil device and goes on all the travels with me now.

Recently I have kept it in the frame bag on my bike to keep my rechargeable headlamp or headlight charged up. Who needs batteries these days; recharge it up!

This is perfect for those days when i just want to Tweet everything I am thinking and cant set down my phone; prior to the Flip, I would have to give it a rest, but now i can keep my phone fully charged regardless of what golf course I am on! Love this thing. If you can't set your phone down long enough for it to get a proper charge, you should buy a few of these!

Seriously though, this product is a great backup and always in my bag, perfect when traveling and always on the go.

We got these for my son when he was just under a year and he lived in them all through Fall to early Spring, he wasn't walking more than a couple steps so the bottoms held up just fine, but I think these would take a beating if your lil one was running around outside in them.

These are soo easy to put on, regardless if he is moving all around and with a ton of washes, they are holding up just fine. After seeing our son in them on a daily basis, it was only a matter of time before other parents at day care had their kiddos styling in these lil booties as well.
