Kyle Smyth's Bio

Grew up in California and traded in the great Pacific for the mountains in 2010 and getting more and more stoked by the day!
The "Utah Tourism" ads had it all right... you really need a proper vehicle and a heap of gear for EVERY season if you live here full time. Just one of the many reasons joining the Herd was a no- brainer!

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like most of us, I have used plastic indicators for some time, but their weight just doesn’t allow for a delicate presentation, that is where these gems come in!

These durable and easy to install indicators are my new standard. Even the smalls provide enough bouancy for smaller nymphs. I prefer this orange color in faster water for increased visibility in the foam. The stealth color is great on slower clear water when the fish are on high alert and picky. Another thoughtful upgrade from Loon!

This is a great lil high quality tap to kick off your EDC setup. Once you have switched over to using the EDC system, this is a great tool to have in your box as you will likely be using on all of your bikes currently or down the road. You will also be owed several beers by all your riding buddies if you own this tap as they will all want to borrow it!

You have to have one of these for your EDC tool install. This thing is simple and brilliant. You will need to buy the tap kit of split one with your riding buddies.

Buy this and you are one step closer to lightening the weight on your back or hips!

This the perfect addition to your already awesome EDC tool kit!
If you run tubeless, you need this tool! This style tool was brought over from the auto world and it works wonders! For quick on trail punctures, this lil gem is what you need! Quickly jam a bacon strip or two into the hole and you are plugged. Then just inflate and you are off to the races!

It is best to keep this close by and not buried in your pack so you can plug the moment a puncture happens Ana preserve some of the air in your tire.

If you prefer to ride your bicycle on dirt or gravel, you should be riding without tubes. Once you have come to terms with that, you should get yourself two sets of these gems. One to aid in setting up your wheels and proper tires tubeless and one set for your tool box or to convince your riding buddy that they should go tubeless as well.

Unlike some other silly shapes that other valve stems may have at the bottom, these circular ones work great with every rim that I have tried them on, and they do a damn fine job.

There is a reason that people that don't run tubeless still know who Stan is, his stuff is class defining for sure!

I have been a long time user of the original Stan’s formula and it has been the best sealant that I have tried so I figured I should give this one a go as it made sense. Well I am a new concert to the Race formula! Less viscous and larger particulates make this sealant the new standard!

If you are looking to start off your home toolkit to wrench on your bike, this is a perfect place to start. Doesn’t fully break the bank and doesn’t have a heap of out dated items like some of the larger ‘starter kits’. The burrito roll is burly and the perfect size to keep in the truck or bring on bike trips. I quickly added additional torx wrenches, a socket wrench, and classic chain whip.
If you are looking to up your tool game, this is a very worthwhile consideration!

To protect the investment of my X01 Eagle cassette, I figured it would be best for me to snag one of these. It has been great for cassette removal and I appreciate the addition of the 1” hex at the end for a Park cassette tool. However this doesn’t fit my Pedro’s cassette tool.

WoW! This system is simply brilliant! I have been on a mission, like most of us for years to find the 'perfect' on the water solution for my gear. I think we are getting really close with this gem! This simple system solves 3 typical challenges right up front:
Eliminates the need to have two belts, your wading belt on your waders and the belt on your waist pack.
Provides a dedicated holder for your net vs always jabbing your net into your back while you try to find a way to stuff it behind your waist pack.
Allows you to get to and use the contents of your waist pack while also easily moving it out of the way when not needed.
My current setup includes this with the addition of the San Juan Chestpack on my left side, I would still like to add the Fishpond water bottle holder as I currently do not have a great solution for my morning coffee or afternoon brew.
Storage is minimal, but well thought out! Another awesome and intuitive product from Fishpond!

There are a heap of fancy tippet holders out there these days, this is not one of them. Simple, cheap and easy! Super easy to add additional tippet onto this one, and very easy to move between your vest, pack, or bag. No need to over complicate this part of your fly fishing kit.

I really like the previous version of this guy to make sure I was properly hydrated on the river, but let's face it, it was pretty bulky. This minimal version is perfect as it can get out of the way when it no longer has a beverage in it, it also hugs your beverage perfectly so you don't need the added zipper of the previous model. Also love that when you bend over to net & release your fish, your beer doesn't spill. Also perfect for any and all river activities, like rafting, SUP'n or just lounging around.

I originally snagged one of these 3 years ago and it is still holding up proper despite being dragged through the woods and thrown around in the back of the truck. This has since become a great gift for your fishing pals. Friends thought it was a great idea when they saw me using it on the river, but were not too likely to go out and buy one themselves. So this has become a quick and easy gift for your fly fishing friends, Help them clean up their act!

Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 175 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I originally bought these for a long backpacking trip as I wanted briefs that would provide support, reduce chafing, could dry easy and were not cotton. These ticked all the boxes and then some, they are soo comfortable that I have quickly ramped up my inventory to use these as my daily boxers and not just for technical activities. I could not recommend these more. I typically wear between a 32/33 waist and the mediums fit perfect.
