Kyle Laudenslager's Bio

Raised in Philadelphia, at a young age I developed a love for the mountain life! Two days after graduating from Arizona State University I found myself loading up the Subaru and moving to Summit County, Colorado to live out my dreams. Over the next few years I did different mountain jobs, but moved back to Phoenix to start my career.
Another opportunity brought us to Salt Lake City in 2015 and a chance to rekindle that love for the snow.

Working for Backcountry as an Associate Brand Manager responsible for Offline Activations allows me the freedom to travel, work with the great brands we support on our site and engage with you, our amazing customers! Thank you for allowing me to live my dreams and support my loved ones!

Runs a bit smaller than expected for most Patagonia jackets/sweaters. Works perfect as a midlayer, but if you are looking to layer under this piece you may want to size up.

I have owned this vest in the Male version for years now and have nothing but amazing things to say about it. Perfect mid-layer to help on those cold days either teaching up at Snowbird or out in the skin track with my friends. Loved it so much that when my Mom asked for a recommendation on those cold mornings on the golf course in Arizona winters I knew exactly what to get her. She loves it, fits perfect to size and has been great for her.

Hose works great for my bladder. I run this in my ABS setup for those long days in the skin track. The added insulation does make the hose a little less flexible, but it certainly does the job keeping it from freezing. Valve cover for the mouthpiece isn't the best and can fall off easily, but overall I would recommend this to anyone who has a Hydrapak bladder.

Agree with the other reviews. Sizing is a bit off and it definitely would be too large for some smaller frame sizes and probably too small if you are on the opposite end of the spectrum. My frame is a 53 and it works great for my setup. I sweat a decent amount outside so you can only imagine how bad it could be on the trainer. Great addition to keep the cockpit clean and salt free.

Ran this for 5 months over the winter with approx. 5-6 hours a week and it held up great. No complaints, quiet, worked perfectly. Would recommend to anyone who is running a Kinetic trainer.

These are my first carbon wheels and I run them on a Ridley Fenix SL, more endurance based over aero bike frame. I wanted to bring in a slightly lighter wheel and give it a bit more responsiveness and it certainly has done that! I run the tubeless version and have had a couple issues with the sealant, but after a couple go rounds they are fully dialed and ready to ride. Overall really happy with this setup and it is a great wheelset.

So I wasn't overly impressed with this jersey. It is a bit thicker than some of the others that I have and doesn't necessarily breath as well. Usually I find myself pretty sweat through by the end of the ride whereas with most of my Castelli jerseys they seem to dry out throughout the ride. Another complaint I have with this jersey is the 1 waterproof pocket with invisible zip is cool in theory, but the zipper ALWAYS gets caught on the inside fabric. They added this sticky type material to the inside of the pocket to help with the waterproofing I assume, but it makes it impossible to get things in and out with sticking to the material and the zipper is horrible. Overall I really like the look and cut of this jersey, just not super hyped on some of the functions. I give it a meh rating overall.

Agree with some others, haven't used it a ton just yet, but it is nice to know I can adjust my Pike based upon the needs of the trail. I dialed it in for our typical trails in Park City, but don't use the adjustments enough when traveling. Overall it is a great value, very easy to install and adjust. Worth adding to your bike.

Enjoy the quick draw laces vs. that of the BOA on some other models. Also, the lace guard or whatever you want to call it is nice to make sure nothing gets caught where it shouldn't and make for an unpleasant end to the day. Only piece of advise on this shoe is to definitely size down. They run about a half to full size big in my opinion compared to other shoes I have ordered.

The jacket of the Collinson family. If it is good enough for the demands they put on it then it is great for my every day life. Ran this jacket last season and loved it. One of my favorite pieces about the jacket is the contour and structure that it is built with. Very little restriction on any part of it and tons of flexibility. Typical Gore-Tex design kept me dry and warm on even some of the worst days. Not only did I ski in this shell all winter, but hosting all of Backcountry's activations across the west this was my go to jacket for working in the field. My only complant is one I have with almost all jackets and that is the sleeves are a bit long or maybe my arms are a bit shorter than the average 5'8" individual...who knows? Either way super tech jacket, great durability and fit, tons of pockets and features and seriously a solid piece of art by The North Face!

Familiarity: I've used it several times

With a full 67 degrees of lean (40 degrees forward and 27 degrees back) these boots feel more like shoes than boots when out on the skin track. One major piece I was concerned with was removing the tongue and what that would do to the warmth of the boot. Haven't had a chance to tour in super deep snow yet, but so far so warm. Really loving them!

Overall flex is good for this old guy. Everyone talks about needing a 130 flex boot to get it to perform, but unless you are charging the steepest of steeps a 120 flex with good lateral stiffness will perform just as great as a 130. You can order a different stiffness in the tongue as it comes in three different stiffnesses. Recommend you reach out to Dalbello if this is something you need, but for me...at 5' 8", 185 lbs. and someone that has been skiing for 39 years they are perfect!

You can also order Alpine Grip Walk soles to make these boots compatible with all Alpine bindings.

Enough comfort and stretch to wear anywhere, but enough classic, clean lines to wear in the office. My wife loves these pants because she can be comfortable in the office, but still look professional enough to hang with the rest of them.

The description says jeans, but I am not sure I would classify them as that. Very stretchy, lightweight and amazing. Not your typical Dad's jeans, but they are a great pant with good style and fit. Typical prAna problem for me with larger legs my waist is usually a bit big so that the thighs fit correctly. But pretty standard sizing for prAna pants as far as I can tell.

Wife ordered the Send It version of this shirt and loves to wear it. Good classic ski pin poster style and traditional TNF feel we have come to love from them. Fits true to size and looks great.
