These bottoms are super breathable, insanely lightweight, but also give you just the right amount of warmth. I used them as a baselayer for climbing Mt. Shasta (with the Patagonia Simul Alpine Pant as the outerlayer) and they worked great. On the way up, it was pretty hot and the bottoms kept me from getting overheated, while when we were high up on the mountain and it was cold and windy, the bottoms did their job and kept me warm (with the help of the outerlayer pants of course). Excited to use these for skiing too!

The other reviews are accurate in saying that these pants are snug. However, they worked perfectly for me for what I was using them for. I wore these pants basically 72 hours straight when climbing Mt. Shasta in July. I had no problem wearing the Patagonia Capilene Lightweight bottom underneath. I liked the snug fit of the pants because it kept them from getting in the way while mountaineering. They were unbelievably breathable, fantastic at moisture wicking (we were in snow for 2/3 days), and overall worked really great for what I was using them for. Dirt came off easily, which I had not expected to appreciate, but when you have one pair of pants for 3 days that kind of detail starts to matter. I even wore them glissading (sledding on snow without a sled) for about 4k vertical feet, and although my butt got painfully cold, I was actually shocked that the pants took the insane friction without the smallest indication of the strain. Even better, they were completely dry within 20 minutes.

I am usually size 4, and although the pants were tighter than I was expecting, they ended up being the ideal fit for what I needed them for. If you are bulkier in the thighs, butt, or stomach, or if you just want a roomier fit, I would recommend going at least one size up.

Overall, I am beyond satisfied with these pants, and I'm excited to put them to more use in the future.

I mainly wear sunglasses when I'm driving or hiking in nature/walking around town, and I've been using RayBan aviators for years. I had no idea what I was missing out on. I thought sunglasses slipping down my face was just part of the deal, but not with the Smith Mt. Shasta. Even when it's hot out and the bridge of my nose gets sweaty, the sunglasses don't slip, and they remain very comfortable. Additionally, I've never been able to easily put my RayBans on top of my head without getting my hair tangled in them, but that's not a problem at all with these. This is the first pair of polarized sunglasses I've worn, and it feels like I can see a whole new world (a little dramatic)! I noticed the difference right away when I was driving and saw strange patterns on car windows. I could feel the difference in sun protection compared to my RayBans. These sunglasses are comfortable, sturdy, and unique without being too out there, all of which was exactly what I was looking for. So happy with my purchase!
