Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've recently gotten into backpacking and I've decided that I truly can't go without a pillow - *que princess curtsy*. Hey! Not everyone can sleep in the wild like they do in the comfort of their own home! So with this I decided that a pillow was necessary. This isn't anything fancy, or high-tech (can pillows be high tech?) - but it will do the job. I've used it a few times and it gives me the exact comfort and support I need to get a good nights rest that isn't my jacket or pants rolled into a ball. It's little bit bigger than expected when packed down, and probably not the lightest pillow on earth, but it's my one luxury item so I'll take it. I haven't gone on any lengthy journeys with it yet, but from the use I have put in I think it'll work out just fine.

I wanted a chair that was easy to carry, easy to pack, and easy to use. This one has nothing to it really but is exactly what I was looking for! It's lightweight and will pack virtually anywhere. I'm looking forward to using it by the campfire - pass the marshmallows!

These poles are nothing to write home about really, but they will do the job just fine! And for the price, they really can't be beat. I haven't used them on the trails yet, but I certainly plan on it soon. I have a bad knee from years of hard volleyball falls, so after recently getting into hiking and backpacking I knew I needed something to relieve myself on long treks. I think that these will do it - no fuss, no frills, no worries.

Fit: True to size

I'm a redhead, so my life has been filled with sunburns every shade of the spectrum. This does not exclude my scalp, which of course is the hardest to protect. I have thick, curly hair so wearing a hat is usually out of the question and sunscreen just doesn't do it. While perusing through backcountry one day I stumbled across the buffs and knew this was the ticket! This half buff is just big enough to cover all my worry areas on my head, but not so big that I feel like I've wrapped my head in a towel. I got it in the magma color which is super fun and I don't feel like such a dorky ginger wearing it. 3 cheers for sun protection!

Leggings with skirts are my new faves. I have two pairs of Spendid in this style, but those babies are pricey. When I saw these onsale I of course had to give them a go! The blue is a fun color, it was a bit weird shiny-ish material but comfortable none-the-less. Like over reviewers have said these are definitely longer than most leggings - but I didn't have to roll them or anything like that. This may be because I sized down, I'm usually a L in leggings but after feeling like they were always slightly too roomy I went with a M. Everything fit perfect doing this - the waist, the legs, the skirt length, and for the most part the legs! The only thing I was iffy about was the material didn't seem to stretch AS MUCH as usual leggings, but after some wear I think they are just fine.

I live in Socal, so with the expected El Nino coming this winter I knew it was time to bite the bullet and buy my first jacket since leaving the East Coast 2 years ago (I know...woe is me). Two of the most important things to me when looking for this jacket was for it to be waterPROOF (not resistant) and breathable. Even when it rains down here, it is super muggy and warm - I could just picture myself walking to get lunch and feeling like I had run a marathon through the jungle. Yuck. There was a Marmot sale going on and after searching through all of the jackets I immediately knew this was the one. I haven't put it through any bad weather yet, but I did take it on a few test drives and I think it will do the job just fine! I got it in the Midnight Purple color and although I'm not one to wear bright colors often it was beauuuuuutiful! I'm in love, bring on that rain!!

I was looking for something with a cowl neck, thumb holes, and a bit of length. I stumbled across this sweater on sale and boom! Perfecto. It was a little more lightweight and larger than I expected, but still just what I was looking for. The color is a beautiful greyish blue and I love how under the cowl it has a hidden light grey. This sweater is super cozy and fun to dress up and dress down. It runs a little large so that you can layer under it, but it is also thin enough to wear a jacket over - hellooooo versatility! I wore it to a hockey game layered over a t-shirt and I was happy as a clam! A new favorite for sure.

Hello, these are Sorel, would you expect any less than awesome? I was staring at these babies for a few weeks and finally decided to make them my own. SO GLAD I DID! When they first arrived I was a little hesitant, they were a bit heavy and stiff but I was still in love with them so I decided to give them a go. I seriously have never owned a comfier pair of boots! Living in SoCal I don't wear boots very often, but with El Nino on it's way this winter (dun dun dun...) I figured it was time I get a good pair. The first day I wore these I took them on an unexpected 3-mile hike and I was shocked with how comfortable they were! They seemed pretty true to size as well, I'm between a 9 1/2 and a 10 and I went with the 10 (because boots = big socks). My new faves, hands down. Oh, and did I mention how stinkin' cute they are?

Patagonia is amazing and I've never received a single thing from them that I don't love. The oooooonly thing I didn't like (or should've paid more attention to) is the sizing. These do run large as others have mentioned. I'm typically a L in Patagonia jackets - but I wanted my jacket to be a little roomier than some of my others. Bought an XL...whoops! Throw me a floaty - I'm drowning!! They run REALLY BIG! I was able to exchange it for a L, which was still big but comfortable and more along the lines of what I was looking for. I also got the Mayan Yellow color originally and it was a lot brighter than I imagined, even for Patagonia. It was more highlighter than lemon, so I went for the Wild Desert instead. Snag a Snap-T, you'll never regret it.
