Kari Kallin's Bio

In 2009, I moved to Salt Lake City from Boston for the promise of free parking, and never looked back. As luck would have it, I also traded Patriots games for rock climbing, and ice skating in the city to skiing in the mountains. I think I'm here to stay, so long as I can catch the Patriots games at local bars. Check out my gear reviews for a taste of this city-girl turned "enlightened-mountaineer-ish-girl." While I still enjoy a brisk walk on the mean streets of Boston from time to time, I'll be here, helping you find your mountain story, one piece of gear at a time. >>>>

The leather quality is so nice, and the tread is significant. I really love them for the winter. Oddly enough, they fit me true to size at a 7.5. Sorel is all over the place with sizing. I'm a true 7.5 in everything except evening sandals where I size down. These fit me perfectly in 7.5. I do have narrow feet, so that helps in these. Meanwhile in the Slimpack I'm an 8, and the Caribou I'm a 7. Go figure. I guess they can't do everything right, but aside from sizing, they're beautiful and functional.

This is a great little cooler for road trips, concerts, and boating. The inside is completely sealed, so no leaking, and the insulation is surprisingly good. I like using it on road trips as the dedicated drinks and snack bag, while my bigger cooler is in the way way back. It's comfortable, and the zipper is super easy to get into. I prefer it over the Yeti hopper.

I feel like I have a hotel on top of my car. I've used it in 15 degrees and 80 degrees. You can keep everything closed and stay warm, or open everything to stay cool. The mattress is way more comfortable than any sleeping pad, and being off the ground and level is super nice. I don't have to worry about any weather condition. It feels like you're retiring to a hotel on your car after adventuring all day.

I love the full size and quality of the metal, and the carry case keeps everything organized in my camp kit. But the plastic handles.... are so cheap. They must be rated to withstand about 80 degrees. They melted and made a mess after hanging over the pot for a few seconds. It's sort of annoying because it's not that hard to make something similar with 600+ degree silicone instead. Then these would be bomber.

This bag is super soft, and really easy to use. The zipper works well, and all of the compartments serve the right purpose. It's just the right size to be big enough for all of your gym stuff, plus any products etc you might need to be ready afterwards. It also has a laptop sleeve, so you can really use it everyday.

Limited Edition Colors Are the Best

I can't go anywhere without someone complimenting these rare port-colored birks. Classic style and comfort of Birks matched with a fun trendy color that still goes with everything. It's my new dedicated concert shoe, and I couldn't be happier about waiting for just the right color to come in stock.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Umm....I could create a Thanksgiving feast with this faster and easier than I can in my kitchen. 60,000 BTUs might burn your face off, but let me tell you, when it's cold and windy, your friends will be walking over to borrow your kitchen. It's a beast. It is heavy and a little cumbersome to always take it car camping, but- it has always been worth it. It all packs down flat, so you can slide it into your car and back additional gear on top of it. Don't forget the handy additions: side trays, risers, and carrying bag. It's another $50+, but frankly. this stove is way under-priced for what it is. Worth it 100%.

For some reason, table space is always a huge commodity when you're camping. These give you defined cooking space for your camp chef stove. I will say, attaching them seemed confusing to me. Design-wise, it would seem like the edges would point downward, but they actually install facing up, creating a tray-like space. It makes more sense when you break it down and realize they fold inward perfectly with those little notch closures. You'll see when you get it, hopefully in less time than it took me.

I bought these for my boyfriend. They are a classic design. Very comfortable, although we had to size down. The sole is a little yellow compared to the white pictured, but it didn't detract from the shoe. He loves them!
