I bought this for alpine touring. I wear it over my heavy hooded base layer (mountain equipment eclipse hoodie), and under my bibs. pockets are easily accessible under the bibs and backpack. cuts wind to the torso and regulates temps wonderfully. the hood encompasses my face nicely to help with side wind also. highly recommend this vest for touring, warm day resort mid layer, spring/fall hiking, or just around town.

I've used this twice now on some AT daytrips first time temps were in the 30s second time in the single digits and teens. wore under my Ortovox biz poe vest and was super comfortable. the hood and zip up mask are fantastic and easy to use. I may need a secondone for backup

wore these for the first time in the backcountry today. 5 miles total travelled on AT gear and over 1k vertical (nothing crazy but a good couple of laps). it was -15 when I left my house and I was fine with just a midweight merino base layer. it got warmer by the time we started climbing but the high was still only 19. these bibs regulated temp well ( didn't use the leg vents, but I wasn't cold either!) they allowed movement well, I never felt restricted. good amount of pockets and great locations. the skin straps are fantastic! we did short laps so the bib was my outermost layer, just strapped skins on, skied down and put skins back on, never had to touch my backpack. for a longer ski down I would put my shell over top to trap heat and keep the skins and myself from icing up. I am 5'8" 165lbs, I wear 30x30 in all pants, and the small fit great with some room to spare. if anything the suspenders were a little long so I may reposition the velcro. my only complaint, as noted in other reviews are the suspender clips. I followed a previous reviewers suggestion and ordered. pair of the SEA TO SUMMIT- SIDE RELEASE FIELD REPAIR BUCKLE WITH REMOVABLE PIN- 1 inch wide SINGLE (1) PIN. great fix. great pant. worth the purchase and just order the repair buckle off the bat!
