Justin Novielliwrote a review of Arc'teryx Bora2 GTX Mid Backpacking Boot - Men's on January 2, 2019
Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
I figured I'd write a review because I used these in some pretty nasty weather and my experience was comfortable enough that I felt they deserved a positive review.
I wore these on a 6 mile hike in Galena, IL that switched between wet leaves, gravel, paved path, and snow/slush covered tall grass. It was also raining throughout the entirety of my hike.
I'm thrilled to say that my feet stayed dry even after sloshing through the tall snow covered grass. They gripped the slick paved path well and I experienced no slips on an ice covered gravel road.
If I had a complaint it is that Arc'Teryx seems to make their shoes fairly narrow and that when switching to simple terrain they felt a bit overkill.
I also will share that the next day when I went to put them on - the outer lining of the boot insert still felt cold and damp. I slid my foot in and it did not get wet, but I feel like this would lower the overall insulation/warmth of the boot and I did feel like my foot stayed colder the next day.
All in all I was thrilled with the performance of these boots, but as a word of advice - even though they are GTX make sure to dry them out thoroughly if possible before putting them on again.
