Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this new BD harness for a month now and I've been putting it through the ringer. Since owning it I've climbed mountains, had it in the gym, committed to several short falls and multiple large rappels - it's been used in snow/glacial/ropteams, sport and alpine trad lead climbing. In short I have NO complaints - the harness has 4 practical gear loops, a 5th in back, and at LAST two hard points and a speed buckle. BD has finally given a solid and realistic answer to Petzl ultra light with all the functionality of a standard harness - I'v owned a couple couloir and though they function they are far to minimalist and this has answer the call of my needs. While it is NOT a Cadillac it maintains a surprisingly comfortable fit for as streamlined as it is.

Fantastic buy that I'm going to beat the hell out of for a few years.

This shoe does everything the TC Pro does BUT... it comes in larger sizes! La Sportiva drives me crazy in that they, for some reason, opt not to make their best shoes in sizes larger than a 46. Enter the Maestro Mid trad shoe. Superb edging, great grip for smearing, awesome in cracks and good fit with a bit of stretch (I bought a 47 which is my normal size - it was a bit tight with toes curved and has stretched after 8 sessions and toes are still slightly curved but shoe is comfortable.) I'd say overall stretch is about a half size and the shoe is sized aggressively to begin with - I will buy a second pair in 48s for all-day comfort.

This shoe is destined to compete neck and neck with the TC Pros and people with larger feet FINALLY have a viable option in an aggressive and higher caliber trad shoe.

I'm not sure what was up with the 2-star review with no info. This is a good shoe period.

Petzl never fails to impress. The Traxion is a fantastic tool to add to your rescue arsenal and for MAS and rope ascension. It's simply one of the best progress capture pulleys out there and for as much as it is potent in performance is it also amazingly light. Paired with the new Petzl rope grab and two oval biners it is always with me when I am out in the alpine or on the rock.
