Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've had this tent for about four or five years by now, using it at least every-other weekend during the summer. I'm guilty of not using a footprint, and the floor still doesn't have any tears. (Don't be me, get yourself a footprint. The footprint, rainfly, and poles can set up fast-fly style, and save weight on UL trips.) The whole setup is super durable: zippers are fine, mesh walls and floor have no holes, poles still have elasticity, no stitching coming apart. It is SUPER easy to set up. I let my mom (who sucks at camping) borrow it. She got it set up quickly and easily without ever having used or been instructed on it.
Overall, I can't say enough about the Kelty Grand Mesa II. For its price, weight, and durability, this tent does everything really well.
