Meh. Not real impressed with this one. I am an Arctyrex fan and own too much of their gear. I certainly wish I did not purchase this item. Its not terrible but for the money, I do think you can get an Eddie Bauer for less and its quality is comparable.

Like other reviewers say - size up. I am 5'10", 168 pounds, 39-40 inch chest and 30 waist. I bought a Medium and its right at my belt line. The jacket hugs my body and I really cannot layer with a size Medium. I do like the form fitted look when I do not have to layer though. Nice fit on the hood too.

I have tried all kinds of gloves to keep my hands and fingers warm - while resisting going with the "lobster claw". But since I could not find a 5 finger appendage warmer, I bought these and thankfully they work great! If you are just walking the dog and need to keep your hands warm - these will do the trick! I highly recommend them!!

The Jacket feels like you could be pretty rough with it and give it a beating. it looks nice and is somewhat warm. There is no fleece in the sleeves. Just quilted lining and not that thick. I do not find this to be a warm jacket. 40 degrees maybe.

This jacket does not stow away in its pocket. Nor would I recommend it for rock climbing or alpine skiing. However for a decent looking jacket that provides some warmth, this one is a good buy. Maybe I am tainted somewhat on price because I tend to prefer Arctyrex jackets but I would really recommend this one for consideration as casual wear around town.

The jacket is lightweight and as comments have indicated previously an excellent warmth to weight ratio. From a sizing perspective I said “true to size” but let me qualify that comment. I wear a 40” suit coat with a 30” waist. The jacket - with a light sweatshirt is snug in the armpit and chest area. Large would be too big. I am not real muscular but if you are or have wide shoulders, note that the jacket might be a bit snug. The jacket looks nice and makes you forget you have it on its so light.

I own the Fission SV for the real brutal weather where you need a more protective shell. However, for those days that are just down right cold - but not wet - this is my go-to jacket. It is warm and fits great! I will wear it with just a short sleeve shirt when the temperature is in the teens - with a breeze. If the price is not an obstacle, I would highly recommend giving consideration to this jacket. It is more of a slim/athletic cut.

When you want to wear a top that takes the chill out but is not too heavy or bulky - this lightweight fleece is perfect. Though I do own several Patagonia items, I do find their cut to be a bit more full cut than I would like. However, this top does not seem as boxey. I would certainly recommend this item. I even bought my son one - and he loves it!

This is a warm jacket - make no mistake about it. I ended up buying one for my wife and my daughter. They love it! Its a good looking coat that does exactly what you need it to do - keep you warm! The hood is not a floppy, oversized hood either. The hood is insulated and form fitting - in a good way - which will keep your brain nice and toasty! As the reviews indicate, the chest area runs a bit on the snug size. Something more endowed women should consider when contemplating purchasing this coat.

I bought this for my daughter. The vest is actually the fashion accessory that is both good looking and practical as it does lend a fair amount of warmth. The first day she wore it to high school she received a lot of compliments. Plus the vest does seem well made and durable.

I wanted a waterproof jacket that also provided a reasonable amount of warmth - without the necessity of layering. This jacket met this task. Though the jacket fits true to size Patagonia is not a company that specializes in athletic cut jackets. Their style is a bit more boxey. However the jacket is lightweight and comfortable. A bit crinkly sounding but waterproof indeed as it has been tested in a chicago winter and early spring. This is a jacket worth considering if you are looking for insulated rainwear.

I really wanted to like this jacket. I found it comfortable and lightweight. However, the fit was not what I was looking for. I am 5'10", 170 lbs, 40" chest, 30" waist, arms "normal" length.
Given the commentary about sizing running a bit small, I purchased a Large. The shoulders and chest fit fine but the waist was a bit wider than I would like and the sleeve length was to my knuckles. The jacket itself has a nice look and a slick and soft feel. Quite comfortable. Unfortunately for me the sizing did not work so I returned it after trying it on.

I was looking for something stylish with a hood. This is something that I wear to the office on casual day or out to a casual dinner. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the hole for your head is small. I am not that big of a guy - pretty average in stature - but my head struggles to push through - to the point where I think I might tear the sweatshirt. If you have a big head and/or a ton of hair, this could be a challenge for you.

The sweater is exactly as it looks on line. The material is woven tight and the quality is definitely there. I bought a M but it was quite snug. Too snug for my liking unfortunately. I have an athletic build but am not a big body builder or anything. 40 inch chest, 30/31 waist. The sweater was tight in the armpit area for me and pretty snug on my arms. I returned it for the L.

Prana's are so comfortable to wear, fit great and allows a nice range of non-binding movement. However, these pants are geared for guys with smaller hips as they are somewhat form fitting. Its almost the equivalent to slim cut jeans(not skinny jeans) but with way more flex. The 30x30 fit me well but in most pants I wear a 31x30. These Prana's have more "give" in them.

Great soft-shell with nice flex and windstopper action. I have a 40" chest and 31" waist and went with a Medium. One of the things I like the best is the shell's resistance to abrasion. It has a more durable feel than a nylon soft shell so you do not have to worry as much about the material tearing if it gets snagged on a tree branch for example. Patagonia's gear is always worth consideration. NF Apex Bionic would probably fall into this category as well but I preferred the Adze Hybrid.

I was looking for a comfortable windstopper in a soft shell hoodie with some water resistive qualities that was comfortable to wear. The Canyonwall hoody met my needs. For its comfort and weight I was surprised at how warm it actually kept me. I have a 40" chest and 31" waist and the M fit me perfectly. The sleeves are not too long as sometimes you find with outdoor apparel. I would recommend giving this one consideration for casual wear or layering.

If you are on the fence, I am hear to tell you that this jacket is pretty cool. It has a nice trim fit, nice warmth and to my surprise a decent amount of wind blockage. I get compliments on this jacket all the time. Note that the jacket has a bit of a shininess to it. More so than the Patagonia Nano Puff. In a sea of NorthFace jackets, this one will help you stand out from the crowd in a performing technical layer that is also quite stylish. Check it out!
