Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I own five of these bags (3 medium, 2 small). One I've had for five years, the others for about six months. I would highly recommend the medium size as the most versatile and useful. I prefer the older one, but my two new medium ones have done well. All three mediums traveled as cargo from DC to India with no issues. My only complaint is the smalls, which I bought to use as carry ons for my two boys (2 yrs and 2 months), the slip through pocket is too small so they will not fit over the handle of a rolling bag. You can still put them on top with the handle throughout the carry handles of the duffel, but this can knock the rolling bag off balance and causing everything to fall over. Very annoying. This is not an issue with the medium, if fits fine. I say go medium.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased two of these bags for a family move to India, one for each of sons. I completely stuffed them with toys, books, clothes, diapers, wipes, and any family stuff I couldn't fit anywhere else. Not only did everything fit, but both bags came under the weight limit. Don't put anything hard in the bottom (I dragged one with a plastic push toy in it across a concrete sidewalk and it started to fray); tendency to tip is less when fully loaded; it was easier to pull both at the same time; and if you take the shoulder strap and clip both ends to the drap handle opposite the wheels it's a lot easier for taller people to pull.
