Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 184 lbs
Size Purchased: Large

I purchased this over a month ago, and am blown away by the quality of the this hoody. I am 5'9", 184 lbs, and ordered a size large - it fits perfect. I will note it is a little snug on the arms; this is intentional as it is not constricting - it fits perfectly under a jacket without feeling bulky or riding up the sleeves. The hood is roomy and you can comfortably fit a hat or beanie under it. It is perfect for breezy brisk fall days on the trail. There is some wind-resistant in the body, not so much the sleeves - I prefer that though because I usually end up pulling the sleeves up to keep me from over heating. This is my first time buying a marmot product, and I am loving it.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 192 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I purchased the R1 about 7 years ago, and I can hands down say it is still one of my favorite go-to jackets. I have put it through the ringer and then some, and it has held up magnificently through it all. It keeps you warm, but not too warm. It breathes very well when you exercise, which helps from keep you from overheating and sweating. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a versatile and breathable midlayer jacket. I'm 5'9" and 192 lb. I purchased a medium (before I gained some extra weight over the years). If you are a similar as mentioned above, I would recommend a large over a medium. This is a solid investment.

I bought this jacket about a year ago, and it is an amazing purchase. The jacket is light weight, and perfect for any summer activity. You can fold it into one of its pockets and place it in your pack. The fit is as described, and has some room for a mid-layer if you need to. I live in Mammoth where spring snow is known as sierra cement, and snow showers are the norm. This jacket does a great job of keeping you dry - normally spring jackets are drenched for days after a brush with the wet snow. Patagonia makes an amazing product for the price.

I just received this glorious mid-layer today right before I went nordic skiing with my wife. The timing couldn't be more perfect because we are getting hit with a spring storm (really wet snow). I need a breathable, yet warm base layer to go under a shell jacket. It works as described and is really comfortable to just sit around in too. I am 5'9" 175 and a medium fit is perfect. If you are teetering whether to buy it or not, it is definitely worth the investment.
