Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: Runs large
Height: 6' 4"
Weight: 255 lbs
Size Purchased: XL

I just got these and have only worn them once, but I wanted to get a review up for sizing since it appears to be a big issue for most. Figured more sizing intel the better, so here are my stats.

Height: 6'4"
Weight: 255 lbs
Waist: 38-40
Pant Length: ~32-34

Based off most reviews saying they run large, I bought XLs (I'm usually a XXL in most brands). The XLs fit me perfectly. Length and waist is spot on for me.

Although I will exclusively use these for backcountry touring, snowshoeing, and other alpine endeavors, I tried them out this weekend at the resort just to get a feel and fit. They performed great and honestly never even noticed them (aside from the suspenders occasionally slipping off my shoulders as many reviewers have pointed out. Crossing them fixed it). The pants are awesome, and yes, they are just a shell. My legs never get cold though, so the most I ever wear are some wool leggings underneath (usually in sub 20F only). If you're not a grizzly bear like me, then you'll definitely want to wear some thermals underneath.

I'll update on backcountry performance once I get them out a few times. And will upgrade to 5 stars if they perform (at this point, I have no doubt they will).

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these for any and all winter hiking. They're incredibly light for how beastly they are. I've stomped through powder in these and walked straight up a couple 14ers (like walking up a staircase with the heel-risers up).

I don't have a splitboard, so these have also allowed me to get into backcounty riding. I just strap them to my backpack when I'm ready to descend. I don't even notice the weight on my pack because they're so light, and also a lot lighter than the snowboard I had been carrying haha.

Fit: True to size

These boots are so comfortable that they've basically become my primary footwear on and off the trail. I've hiked 14ers in these and I'll wear them pretty much anytime I'm in a pair of jeans around town.

Incredibly comfortable boot, especially for my abnormally wide feet. I'm a 13 3E with a high arch and instep, and these babies fit like gloves. And for the people complaining about breath-ability, the only time I've noticed my socks dampened is when I'm wearing basic cotton crews, but even that is limited. I've never had this issue while wearing wool socks.

These boots are comfortable, durable, and a great deal at this price. There are a lot of things I have to worry about when in the backcountry, but my feet are not on that list because of these boots. Keen has my business for life and I'll gladly get another pair of these once I've walked out of my current ones (but that won't be happening anytime soon!)

I was looking for a versatile shell to be used for resort riding and backcountry hiking/riding. Asked for a recommendation via the Backcountry Gearhead chat and this jacket was recommended.

NAILED IT!

This shell is awesome. Kept me warm on the mountain with a fleece and light baselayer underneath. Took a few spills on ice and in powder...not a scratch on it and stayed dry all day. I have no doubt this shell can stand up to a serious beating.

It's also surprisingly lightweight for how warm and tough it is. I'll definitely be using this all year round (for the next decade).

Thanks to Marmot for making a great piece of gear and Backcountry for recommending it!
