I LOOOOOOOOVE this suit! I am 6ft 200lbs and bought a size Large in the Storm Blue color scheme. The fit is pretty perfect. Not too baggy, trim to look comfortable & sleek but still plenty of room for the movements you will be making on the mountain. The perfect combo. Plus it doesn't sound or feel like a plastic bag which some of the new gore-tex pro fabrics can be like. I had 2 compliments the first two runs I took the first day I wore it!
I wore this beast during a whiteout snowstorm in the Sierra Mountains in March of 2019. There was about 1 foot of snow that day. The suit was flawless. It has a medium amount of insulation which was perfect for outside at the top with the wind howling. More surprisingly was how it was almost "breathable" inside for a beer after the slopes. I wore a medium weight base layer on both top and bottom and was snug as a bug in 19-28 degrees Fahrenheit snow/wind weather. With that said I feel like you can easily wear this in temps about 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit higher because of the breathability factor. Maybe it's just me, but this suit is really versatile.
The material is soft flexible and really comfortable. I was skeptical that the softness of the suit would sacrifice protection. But after sitting in 40mph gusts of sleeting snow/ice and coming out bone dry, I would say it works just fine.
At one point we got stuck on the chair lift in a very open/exposed part of it. The wind was whipping snow right into our faces. I used the cinch on the hood to hunker down and turn into a ball. Nothing was getting inside of this thing! It handled the wind/snow combination perfectly. I also plan to wear this even on none storm days since it's so comfortable.
A very important point to note is that when you have to use the restroom, you won't have to take it off or remove it from your shoulders! You can simply unzip and the front opens. You will still be wearing the suit normally over your shoulders. This was a nice surprise. It's actually way faster than wearing a regular coat too because you only have 1 zipper as opposed to 2 (1 pant, 1 jacket)
Unfortunately, the elastic hood cinch snapped a string on me but I am not sure exactly how. Maybe I tried to tighten it too much? A sad moment, but the hood still held up decently for the rest of the day. I contacted one of the gearheads (Aaron) here at Backcountry and he was awesome to help me out to get it fixed.
