Ok so, I did much reading regarding the benefits of latex with added watts and better roll resistance. With all the Voodoo in this industry, I'm always a bit skeptical with product claims but, I'm happy to report that latex is the way to go. Ride quality is noticeably more supple and I had a slight increase in my avg speed on my first ride. I've used Conti GP 4000s for years and I paired these tubes with Vittoria Corsa G+ if for no other reason than I wanted to break out of the box and make a change.
On the downside: I envisioned Vittoria tubes/tires, an age old Italian company, to be made by loving hands in a moderately sized factory next to a pastry shop somewhere in Milan but, to my disappointment is stamped on the bottom of the packaging, "Made In Thailand." My fantasy got its ass smacked. Oh well! Despite this quality control isn't sacrificed. Also, latex tubes come standard with a 51 mm stem. Why? Variable lengths would make life simpler. Are you listening, Vittoria?
