Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ok so i use this primarily for my sailing gear. For that application its great I can fit my farmer john wet-suit some small neoprene booties my life jacket ( I have an NRS Ninja in a L/XL) and a spray top. The little pocket is great for shoving my gloves, beanie, and watch into so that I don't lose them. The best part of this pack is that the fabric itself is very water proof. After im done sailing i can shove my wet gear into the pack and not worry about it getting my car wet. It should be noted that this pack is not waterproof in any real sense. My main problem with the pack is that the backpack straps are terrible. I have quite broad shoulders and these straps will not stay put. I have to constantly hold them so keep my bag on. I think that a sternum strap could easily fix this in future models but until then id steer towards the classic black hole bags because they have more adequate shoulder straps.

Picked up a pair of these recently and am very impressed. They feel a little snug at first, but loosen up within a few minutes. Fairly short shorts and because of this compression shorts show when I sit down. The organic cotton is good too very soft against the skin. The real key to these pants is their durability. They really stand up to anything you can throw at them. The button is metal and the stitching is strong. The only thing i don't like is the Velcro back pockets. I don't really have an issue with this, but i think a more durable choice would have been metal snap closures since Velcro will wear out with heavy use. I never use the back pockets mainly because the front ones are extremely spacious.

These pants are a mixed bag of feelings. I purchased the gunmetal grey color and within 3 washing's they had faded heavily. I also have a pair in the sawdust khaki . The khaki color does not appear to have lost its color after a year of heavy usage. Their durability is top notch and they fit well. Note that they may seem a little baggie on people with smaller thighs. I have larger thighs from cycling and there is still plenty of room. They dry pretty well, but do not breathe during those summer hikes, however they are good for short day hikes. Also mobility is good for sports like climbing. Also the cargo pockets are superb great for maps. Also the front pockets are mesh on the inside. Will definitely buy another pair if mine ever wear out.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Seems like North Face has really let production go. The pack is rainproof and the carrying capacity is pretty nice. The downside is that the quality of the pack is terrible. It may have just been mine, but withing a week the stitching was already giving way and fraying. I hadn't even taken it out yet and it was already failing I would skip on this and pick up something from osprey, Patagonia, or black diamond.

This pack is incredible! The material is waterproof as far as i can tell it kept my phone nice and dry during a surprise downpour. The size is nice and the weight is great. I use this pack for biking and day hikes, because of its size. shows no wear after several crashes and days of use!

The material of this pack really keeps the stuff inside dry. Personal preference issue is that the zippered pocket being behind the right arm is kind of annoying as well as the bottle pocket being behind the left arm. A design flaw of this pack is that the opening for the main compartment seems a little narrow which makes putting a laptop or books into it a little difficult. Also the velcro strap on the laptop compartment and tablet compartment is pretty annoying and unnecessary. It should also be noted that I carry this backpack everyday as a college student and it shows no signs of ware after several months same Osprey quality as always!
