Joe Riordanwrote a review of The North Face Mountain Light Triclimate Hooded Jacket - Men's on December 4, 2018
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
I was looking to replace my 14 year old North Face Summit Series Gore Tex shell, that I had matching zip in fleece liner for. The jacket has not worn out and is still waterproof, but I was tired of it and wanted something new, and wanted to stay high end so that it would last like the previous one.
I tried that very expensive Canadian brand, but I found the body tight, the sleeves very long, and the hoods enormous. Then I ordered the TNF 1990 Mountain Jacket, but when it arrived I realized it had NO hand pockets, something I never thought I'd need to check the spec on. It was so well made that I pictured me suffering without pockets for 20 years, so I returned it immediately.
I decided I should shop for one that came with the liner and then came across this. I live in NC where the winters are generally mild, so a minimal down liner and waterproof shell are perfect for this climate. It fits great, both the minimal down liner and the shell together and separately. and both look awesome. It even has hand pockets lol.
This is not all you would need on a cold northern day, this down jacket would be too thin for me there, but for where I live it's perfect and when I travel I will use more layers.
