Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 180 lbs
Size Purchased: One size: works well for me

100% merino comfort & performance. Versatile design: can be used over / under the nose, mouth or chin. I wish the mouth opening was a bit larger, but have found it to be useful on those super cold lift service ski days. Works well under a climbing or ski helmet. Has great front coverage of neck area. Flat seams are a nice detail for added comfort.

For years, I knew when my merino mid layer piece would finally wear out, I was going to buy the Ibex Shak. Simple design with a single pocket, perfect neck height and form fit. 100% merino for comfort and performance. Perfect weight for a mid layer piece. This is my main mid layer piece for backcountry and lift served skiing, winter climbing, and for general all season use (skiing, climbing, hiking, biking, camping, lounging). If I could change one thing it may be to have a slightly beefier zipper. Love this garment!

I had a pair of the original OR Vert gloves and simply wore them out over years of use: camping, mountaineering, backcountry skiing and ice climbing. Love the updated features on the Super Verts: Reinforced finger tips, large pull loops, supple yet textured leather. These gloves are comfy and offer great interface with ski poles or ice tools / mountaineering axes. Great for general camping gloves on cool nights too. I seal the leather with Sno Seal (bees wax based) leather sealant periodically for optimal performance.

Big, beefy and stiff for backcountry tours and big lines. The two buckle system works great and is quick and simple to use. Work great with my AT setup and take crampons well for ski mountaineering situations. All of my ski partners who use this boot are super stoked on their performance. I feel I was wise to take their recommendations when considering boot options.

This has become my favorite compact duffle. Allows me to organize my gear for in-bounds ski trips & car camping. Very well built with great compartments for organization. The option to carry as a backpack is great. Works super well as a carry on airline bag. I'll be buying the Transporter 65 too!

This is the ONLY DWR replenishment & waterproofing I use. Have tried other approaches in the past for my 3 layer GoreTex garments (TNF, Arc Teryx, Monstone) and ToddTex tents & bivy bags (Black Diamond PTFE laminate fabrics), but TX Direct Spray on is the best! Easy to use: follow the Nikwax instructions. I've used this product for over 10 years. TX Direct allows me to get the best performance and protection out of expensive PTFE fabrics!
