Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this boot to wear on a week-long off-trail backpacking trip in the north Teton Range. I have low volume, wide, flat feet and so was wary given other reviews I'd read about the boot fitting narrow feet best. The boots fit my feet very well, quickly stretching so that the forefoot was loose if anything. The boots were comfortable out-of-the-box -- no blisters or hot spots. Over the course of the trip, the soft leather became dinged and scratched, and it appeared that the back of the outer sole began to separate very slightly from the mid-sole. This makes me question the durability of the boot. Performance-wise, the boot was very good. Our trip was dry with the exception of creek crossings. Stepping into shallow water, my feet felt "cool" but not wet. The interior of the boots was dry and comfortable each morning even though my feet tend to sweat, making a boot damp on the inside. The boots do not edge as well as others I've had (e.g. Salewa Alps Mtn Trainer) since the sole at the forefoot protrudes slightly from the leather upper. We traversed 30+ miles of talus/scree, much of it steep and loose, and the soles performed well in terms of grip - no washing out, skidding, or slipping. The ankle support is excellent, and the heel felt stable -- no tendency to roll an ankle. I replaced the stock insole with my custom orthotics, and I might have been able to add a thin, flat Spenco-type insole to take up even more volume as the boots became broken in. All in all, I was very pleased with this boot both in terms of comfort and performance. I found it to run true to size. I typically wear a size 9.5 running shoe and I ordered the 41.5.
