Jennifer Renshawwrote a review of MSR Lightning Ascent Snowshoe - Women's on February 4, 2018
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have snowshoed several times while marking timber for my forestry job in snowshoes that were not made tough enough to withstand that kind of movement. The rivots broke within the first 3 months. They were a Black Friday sale snowshoe. I knew if I wanted a decent pair that would last me for trail purpose only that I would have to fork out the dough. I really enjoy using the Women's MSR Lightening Acent snowshoes. They are narrow and ultralight. I find that they are really simple to take on and off even though there are 4 straps. My feet felt very secure and stayed within the center of the shoe. Other snowshoes my boots would wonder to the inside of the shoe and I would end up placing my foot on the outside metal frame. The MSR has traction all around the frame which is great for slopes and going up and down hills, also has the lift under the heal for even easier climbs up the hill(have not used it yet). I love that they are narrow and I can walk normal. I rarely ever hit the shoes together. I will be attempting to find a way to fasten the straps so they don't slide out of the plastic notch piece that hold them in place or I may even remove the excess straps as they seem to slide out of the place holder when walking. The straps still hold and won't undo to allow your foot to come out but the extra strap flopping around tends to annoy me. I just took them out for my first 1 miles hike about a month ago and a 3 miles hike a few days ago. I can't wait to get to use them more! My boot is the Bugaboot Omni III. Love them as well and go great with the shoes. I wear them in a size 9 for extra sock purposes. I am 5'8 and weigh about 175 lbs and these snow shoes kept me above the snow and were easy to walk in. I have the 25inch.
