Lightweight. Hose Approved.
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size

I've used the Uinta 3L a few times but can't say I’ve been confronted with much for weather. I had high hopes that it would perform well but with no weather in the near future, I gave it the ol' hose test. 5 minutes. Dry as seasoned kindlin'.... except for the open pocket. Although it held water on the inside quite well which could come in handy down the trail.

It’s super lightweight which makes it a very versatile jacket and it packs down fairly small. I've been using it fly fishing lately as my other wading jackets are a bit on the heavier side for warm days. With the vents and thinner material, it works well as a sun/heat barrier but when the weather moves in, I suspect it's going to keep me dry .The cuffs are great, they taper a bit forward along the top of your hands and are longer than normal. I’ve had other rain jackets where the velcro rolls forward at the hands and ends up chaffing my skin. Not having that problem here. I ordered a large which is a bit baggy for me, but will allow for plenty of layering space if needed.

Slim Fit

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So far so good. Very durable and super comfortable. They are a bit tight in the legs for me but have loosened up quite a bit in over the past few wears. I will say however, the slimness does not result in any restriction of movement. I think as spring progresses and the hiking in the mountains open up, I’ll be drawn to these pants for the comfort and the less likelihood they’ll be snagged on the scrub oak. I wear a 30/30 and I think the inseam is a 32. No biggie if you don’t mind rolling them up. I’ve grown accustomed to the look since most pants in a 30 waist that I own have a 32 inseam.

Awesome fit and looks great. I’m 5’9”, 160 and typically wear a medium for my flannels and button ups, which was the case. It was a bit slim and since it wasn’t ordered to celebrate my Mother’s birthday and more for rockin in the woods and on the streets, I sent it back for the large. Soft, durable and slightly stretchy material, dig the zippered chest pocket, fit, length and color (went with grey).

Oh, are those tiny trouts on my dancing shirt? You bet they are! This shirt is a must if you’re looking for the perfect blend of pattern and breathability to take you from the Provo River straight to your hot new Tinder date. I ordered the Large. Fits great unless you are looking for something more trim. I like a little room in my shirts to cover up my huge muscles rather than expose them to CRBS (Cotton Restrictive Bicep Syndrome).

Really lightweight and super minimal. All packed down, its just a bit bigger than a baseball. I recently took it on an ocean trip in Northern California. Fishing out on the cliffs, it kept the wind from kicking my butt. I also wore it out on the Kayak while crabbing to keep my upper body dry from splash. Worked like a charm. Use the hood as a stuff sack and this bad boy can be tucked away for every adventure.
Arms are a nice length, fits great but I’d like to see it a bit longer in the body.

Really comfy and seem to be very durable as well. I don’t have tiny legs by any means but the guy in the picture makes these look super tight and bunchy. That is not the case with the fit on me. Plenty of room in the knees and thighs unless my daily activities evolve into high kicks and absurdly deep squats. In that case, the cotton/spandex blend works some magic. Been wearing these a lot lately for all activities including tree climbing, changing the oil and looking snazzy. I like the doubled up material on the right pocket for a knife. Definitely have some jeans that are worn out there.

The Timpanogos fits not like a glove and is not baggy. Nor does it give me a muffin top or make me look like I’m wearing a box. It fits perfect. I’m 5’9” and 160lbs. Went with the medium in Army Green.

It’s extra stretchy and ultra soft on the inside. Light and fairly thin but still holds warmth. All the pockets have zippers, which I love, and both the lower pockets have that super soft fleece to cuddle up those cold hands in. The upper chest pocket can be a great spot to keep your cookies or extra socks.

I think what I like most about this fleece, is the hood. It cups the noggin with delicate perfection. When the whole package is zipped all the way up, ninja mode is turned on as much of your face can be stowed away behind a curtain of protection.

I wore it the other day on a mild, spring afternoon out snowboarding. I had Backcountry’s Spruces Merino base layer underneath and a shell on top. Nailed the layering.

Gear Closet
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag recently accompanied me on a dive trip to Northern California. To say the least, it was wet and to say the most, this bag held it’s own. The super durable material kept water out during downpours. Even though it’s waterproof, the top flap overlaps the tough zippers keeping water from directly seeping in, making it pretty damn resistant. If you need to grab something during a downpour, the large flap also doubles as a rain fly to help keep gear dry… or your sweet perm. All the compartments and pockets help keep everything extra organized and easy to find. The stitching and straps seem well built as well. I don’t see it falling apart any time soon. Excited to take it on more trips!

We were a few days in on our hunt. Finn the dog was exhausted after climbing up and down volcanic Nevada ranges in search of chucker. So, we directed our efforts to the flatlands of sage and prickly bush for quail. Finn was getting birdie, leading the charge through the dense thicket of chest high brush, I followed close behind. Somehow through the chaos of breaking branches and Finn's heavy panting, I could hear the cursing of Audrey getting battered by the desert's sharp armour. Why was she being attacked and I wasn't... Then it dawned on me, she wore jeans and I wore the Fjallraven Keb Trouser. The G-1000 is impenetrable by desert thorns and perfectly placed for battle. It's also quite waterproof. Where armour isn't needed, stretchy like jegging material is used for optimal mobility along with superb ventilation. The ankle cuffs tighten down and have a lace clip to keep out unwanted environmental hazards like scorpions. I have many days and miles on these pants yet they still look good enough to throw high kicks on the dance floor.

I'm a tight 30, these fit me best in a 29.

Engineered for Awesomeness.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Drooled over this jacket online and so far it has exceeded my expectations. It's so light and comfy that you'll frolic like a young child. Feeling a little chilly... This sleek puff monster will fit under any jacket and if you start to overheat, just stuff her in your pocket and carry on. Although I will say, it regulates heat quite well. The cuffs and hood have elastic boarders which are obviously engineered to keep out snow gremlins on powder days. And yes, it works. The shell material has so far held up great (no ductape patches). If you're my size (medium build with great hair) this should fit great. If you are my height, have a strong jawline and enjoy squatting small school busses, go with the next size up. On a slightly negative note, I have abnormally large carpel bones, certainly inherited from my grandmother. As a result, the cuffs are slightly snug around my wrists.

First trip was mid October, high in Utah's Wasatch. We expected lows in the 20's but by the time night one came around there was two feet of glorious snow and single digit temps. With help from a pair thermals, I slept like a baby bird nose first, incubating warmly in momma birds feathery chest fluff. Used a compression sac from another bag to get it extra small since it doesn't come with one. Weight was quite manageable. Great bag.
