Jamie K's Bio

I love the outdoors. I live a 15 min bike ride from the beach, and only a small trip to DWG. Thanks to my dad, I love hiking and camping. I've been fishing, shooting, and more since I was a little girl. I also enjoy many other activities such as jiu jitsu, snowboarding (just learned!), running, and yoga (also just learning).

Besides this I'm a big fan of volunteering. I'm currently a marketing student as well.

Give Me All The Bags ^__^
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I’m absolutely a bag nerd, and I’™ve had a lot of them. The thing that’s great about wide bags like this is that taking stuff in and out is super easy. I also absolutely love the zipper feature, it means I can keep the bag more secure. Even if I don™’t necessarily need it zipped, it keeps the bag from opening up a lot if you have a lot of stuff in there. Especially if you’re moving around doing stuff, and lean over and nothing falls out. This is more important for me if the bag holds more volume (so more stuff). Smaller bags it isn’t as much of an issue.

The bag is also super tough. I love when I don’t have to even be careful with bags. I’m really lazy. I don’t want to have to place a bag down gently, and the material of this bag means I can throw it around if I want to.

I also love how the Heather Gray color looks really nice and more casual, everyday. Sometimes I like my bags being bright, but it’s also nice to have the option of it not looking crazy outdoorsy. I can also use this bag for just about anything, from a weekend stay at the beach in Long Beach Island to camping last weekend in the Catskills in the pouring rain. I use it to keep all my food items that didn’t need to be refrigerated while camping, and it fits a ton! It’s not waterproof, mind you, but it definitely repels rain or water for a beat or two so you can get it into your tent or car and it’s completely dry (unlike me).

The only problem now is that I want to use it for too many things, ”I might need to buy another one ;).

So full disclosure: I don't use these for climbing. I'm a boulderer, but haven't yet transitioned to anything else. But I wanted some tough, decent sized carabiners to use to attach gear, or for any other in-camp need (like hanging something up, bear bags, what have you). Also for clipping gear to the outside of packs or my pants. It's amazing how often one can be useful. I looked into other brands (nite ize) but I didn't want any locks or something too small. For the price point this is a good set! I have a couple saved for daypacks, one on my backpacking pack, and extra in my camping kit. I even use one as a keychain now. So great!

The Perfect Wallet
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this wallet. I have a few of Flowfold's other wallets and honestly they are all amazing. They are lightweight, tough as hell, and simple. They actually do something totally insane--they lie flat. When was the last time your wallet did that?

I've had the Minimalist and the bifold one besides this, but the Craftsman one is the best of both worlds. You get two card holder pockets on the outside and a money pocket in between. This is great because if you need to take out money or a card, it doesn't interfere with anything. In the minimalist at times I'd have to take out everything in order to retrieve one thing I needed.

I currently have my bank card, license, a Tile (the wallet version), my health insurance card, my PayPal debit, a metro card, and my Movie Pass card.

Cash I have the following bills: 20, 5, 7 singles. I can definitely fit a little more of cash and/or a card or two comfortably, and even more if I didn't mind a tighter fit.

After owning their wallets, there really isn't any comparison. It's easy to fit in any bag, pack, or purse. It resist water, dirt, and throwing it around.

Plus I get the added benefit of making fun of my friends and laughing at their giant, cave-man style wallets. ;)

Perfect Car Camping Cooler
4 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Trip: Camping in Cuddebackville, NY
Duration: 2 nights, 3 days
Conditions: An almost hurricane that avoided us, and lots of rain
Temperature: Average of 43 degrees
This cooler sat on a picnic bench partially covered by a canopy, partially being rained on during the two nights we were there.

I think the Kelty Folding Cooler is a great choice for weekend and car camping. Since I have only been able to test it out once so far, I'm going by that experience. The cooler held up against getting wet, kept everything cold the entire trip--including a 2 hr drive to get there. It was easy to put together and take apart. This cooler did exactly what I was looking for it to do. I look forward to taking it on many more trips.

They say the devil is in the details. This cooler has handles on the side, a bottle opener attached to one of the zippers, and comes with 2 cozies. Win.

However, I'm not a really huge fan of the material on the top and bottom of the cooler. Dirt, ashes from the fire, and more easily gets stuck on it, and it's hard to remove. I like taking care of the things I buy, and this material is not easy to clean.

Overall though, I love this cooler and would definitely recommend it.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this water bottle a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. I've read through many reviews on different companies, but ultimately I was looking for something in particular to take to work everyday (and just about everywhere else). I love the stainless steel, and I love the bamboo top. I like having the metal top on there, and the wood gives it a nice touch. I'd probably be interested in getting other caps for this as well.

Since this is not insulated, it of course doesn't keep your liquids cold long--and condensation tends to form on it. But so far in the experience I've had it's a study, reliable water bottle. I've read in other reviews that it can dent easily, and if I take this guy on a trip that involves more activity, I'll be sure to update my review.
